Spirent Communications plc today announced new functionality on the Spirent Anue 3500 to advance mobile backhaul and carrier Ethernet performance testing. With the addition of new timing, synchronization and time of day accuracy testing, service providers and equipment manufacturers are better prepared to validate the mobile backhaul networks deployed to support the new 4G/LTE services.

An important aspect on ensuring seamless subscriber quality of experience on 4G/LTE networks is validating standards such as IEEE 1588/PTPv2, used to deliver accurate synchronization including time of day services to the mobile network. Spirent Anue 3500 is the first solution to provide comprehensive testing of 1588/PTPv2 enabled devices, with the ability to analyze both frequency and time of day accuracy under real-world impairment scenarios. In addition, the solution enables advanced testing of Boundary Clocks.

“LTE service quality it severely impacted by poor timing and synchronization of wireless networks causing channel interference, reduced call quality and network capacity,” said Jeff Schmitz, vice president, Network & Applications group at of Spirent Communications. “Spirent Anue 3500 combined with Spirent’s LTE and mobile backhaul testing solutions can ensure service providers as well as network equipment vendors are able to deliver high performance solutions designed to meet the demanding needs of today’s mobile subscribers.”

The Spirent Anue 3500 offers a number of new capabilities designed to simplify network testing, including:
-Time of day accuracy and frequency stability testing
-Full real-time measurement and analysis with automatic pass / fail results
-Test automation
-Higher Ethernet test port counts for greater use-case flexibility
