RF amplifier covers 380MHz to 6GHz

Users will be able to span an ultra-wide frequency range between 380MHz to 6GHz within a single amplifier. The amplifier encompasses the needs of EMC test centres, RF component designers and product design and validation.

“No need to switch instruments or bands during test,” says Michael Hempel, Product Manager for Broadband Amplifier Systems.                

The development of the product, undertaken by Rohde & Schwarz's Broadcast and Media business unit, “has been driven by technology trends including the 5G communications systems, e-mobility with its assistance systems and car to car communications,” explains Hempel.

It means one amplifier can cover the entire mobile radio frequency range - GSM, LTE, 5G, GPRS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee.

Amongst the products USPs Hempel points out are a compact design with noise power density as low as -110 dBm/Hz, high RF power in an ultra-wide frequency range, and improved RF parameters including high linearity, and outstanding harmonic performance down to-25 dBc.

The amplifer is robust against RF mismatch with P1dB up to VSWR 6:1.

New software supports WebGUI, and a new 10-inch touch panel. Option keys are available to support additional functions, for example, high power mode and adjustment of operation point.

The instruments are configurable as single-, twin-, dual- or multi-band amplifier system.

They are available as 4HU desktop or 7HU – 46 HU rack solutions.

The BBA300 family has two RF amplifier models – the BBA300-DE covers 1GHz to 6GHz and the BBA300-CDE encompasses 380MHz to 6GHz.

Both models benefit from numerous smart settings and activation functions, which readily adapt instruments’ settings and behaviour according to the application. The amplifier design offers the ability to realise a broad array of customer system setups, offering high flexibility and scalability, with upgradable frequency and power. This makes it easy for customers to expand their systems, building upon their initial investment.
