Test & Measurement
More Memory = More virtualisation capabilities
Kingston Technology Europe Ltd commissioned Binary Testing, a UK-based independent testing lab, to determine how memory provision affects performance on virtualised servers. The special report also examines the dramatic impact that physical memory provision can have when implementing virtualisation technology.
The The study concluded several points. A: For 2GB, the only memory configuration the server could support without any memory management coming into play, was a single virtual machine. B: On web server tests accuracy of transactions increased stating 32GB system never exceeded 0.5 per cent of failed transactions. Please see attached survey for range of tests and results.
“Virtualisation allows business to ‘do more with less, ” comments Bernd Dombrowsky, EMEA Inside Sales Director, Kingston Technology,“ offering better utilisation of existing systems, allowing multiple virtual machines to share the physical resources of a single, or even several combined servers.”
With the increasing use of Virtualisation among many large corporations, leading global companies are choosing non-OEM memory right from the beginning as part of the specs when purchasing brand new systems and saving themselves significant costs.
“Third Party memory offers a possibility of achieving equal performance at significantly lower cost in comparison to OEM memory,” says Bernd Dombrowsky, EMEA Inside Sales Director, Kingston Technology.
