Hittite Microwave Corporation has introduced the industry's first SMT packaged, MMIC Tunable Band Reject Filter which is ideal for absorbing unwanted signals in test and measurement equipment, signal processing equipment and electronic warfare (EW) subsystems up to 25 GHz.
The HMC1000LP5E is a Tunable Band Reject Filter which exhibits only 3 dB of insertion loss within its passband of 100 MHz to 25 GHz. The band rejection frequency is user selectable, and can be varied between 3.6 and 12.2 GHz, while the -20 dB filter bandwidth can be varied from 6 to 14 %. The HMC1000LP5E offers four different stop band tuning modes, and is controlled by two analog tuning voltages between 0 and +14V. Furthermore, by virtue of its monolithic implementation, the HMC1000LP5E exhibits excellent immunity to vibration and microphonics.

The HMC1000LP5E delivers fast tuning speed of 200 ns, and provides a dynamically adjustable solution in advanced communications applications. This unique, non-reflective tunable filter exhibits good return loss in the passband as well as the stop band, and delivers very low residual phase noise of -162 dBc/Hz. The HMC1000LP5E is a solid state solution and is a much smaller alternative to physically large, mechanically tuned filter implementations.

The HMC1000LP5E is housed in a compact, RoHS compliant 5 x 5 mm QFN SMT plastic package. Samples and evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company's e-commerce site or via direct purchase order.
