PAM4, PAM8 test platform in ECOC test demonstration
Anritsu will demonstrate a test platform for engineers investigating the latest PAM4 and PAM8 (pulse amplitude modulation) techniques for use in 25Gbps and 28Gbps communications links at the ECOC exhibition in Cannes (Sept 22-24). The platform, which provides for high-quality simulation of PAM4 and PAM8 signals, consists of the Anritsu MP1800A signal quality analyser (Bit Error Rate Tester, BERT), combined with the MZ1834A PAM4 converter. In the demonstration, the signal output is analysed by LeCroy's 65GHz LabMaster oscilloscope.
The MP1800A is also on view in a separate demonstration of a test system used by Xyratex (part of Seagate), the Fraunhofer Institute, IZM and ILFA in the SEPIANet research project. This project successfully developed an embedded planar glass waveguide optical backplane and pluggable optical interconnect technologies for use in very high-speed data communications systems.
The project’s measurement set-up included the MP1800A because of its excellent eye quality, extremely low intrinsic jitter and fast transition times, specified at data rates from 100Mbps to 56Gbps.
In July, Anritsu launched a new generation of it Network Master family of optical field testers. Visitors to the Anritsu stand will be able to perform hands-on evaluations of the MT1000A Network Master Pro, an all-in-one optical network field tester which supports the multiple communications protocols used in today’s converged telecom networks.
It is aimed at technicians who install and maintain mobile-access, fixed-access, metro and core transmission telecoms networks.
