Agilent introduced its 2011 Forensic and Toxicology Compendium, featuring 125 applications, including 30 new ones based on former Varian platforms. Agilent acquired Varian, Inc. in May 2010.
Labs analyzing samples for drugs of abuse, sports doping or crime-scene evidence have long considered this compendium highly useful, said Tom Gluodenis, Ph.D., Agilent forensics market development manager. Most of the applications in this expanded edition have been developed in collaboration with forensic labs and toxicology labs, adding even more value.

The compendium provides sample preparation protocols, instrument operating conditions, examples of typical results and documented figures of merit such as detection limits, any interference effects and reproducibility. These very complete application guides are cross-indexed by sample matrix, analytical technique and target analyte to help users quickly locate the correct workflow. Sample preparation techniques and productivity tools are also organized this way.
