Agilent Technologies' Curriculum-Based Teaching Solutions for Electronic Test and Measurement Selected by Multimedia Development Corporation Malaysia
Agilent Technologies Inc. is pleased to announce an agreement with the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) Malaysia to provide curriculum-based teaching solutions focused on electronic test and measurement specially designed for Malaysia's institutions of higher learning in science and technology. Twenty Malaysian universities have agreed to purchase Agilent's teaching solutions.
EachMDeC realized that proactive steps must be taken to meet the demand for the estimated 10,000 knowledge-worker job opportunities available later in 2010, said Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, chief executive officer of MDeC. To produce a generation of skilled knowledge workers, educators at institutions of higher learning and industry trainers must also enhance their knowledge, experience and be attuned to the latest technological developments in information and communication technology.
The collaboration between Agilent, a world-class premier technology measurement company, and MDeC, addresses two of the knowledge workers' most pressing needs, said Datuk Seri Dr. Maximus Ongkili, minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. They need to be equipped with a practical understanding of industry-related work as well as technical capital to realize innovation.
Additionally, Agilent will deliver its train-the-trainer program each year to MDeC. The program is designed to ensure educators are prepared to teach and train the approximately 3,000 engineering students who graduate each year from local universities. Through this program, graduates will be acquainted with various stages of the product design and development in the electronic industry, and equipped with textbook and hands-on knowledge.
We continue to partner with leading institutions to enhance the engineer's knowledge and experience learned in the local universities, said Chew Teck Ming, Agilent Malaysia country sales manager. This is in line with Agilent's commitment to education and our desire to develop quality engineers and scientists for the future.
MDeC is a key driver of Malaysia's Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) national information and communication technology (ICT) initiative. Agilent's curriculum-based teaching solutions address the critical need to develop Malaysia's university curriculum and to meet the rapidly changing industrial requirements of the electronic and semiconductor industries worldwide.
