Arm at embedded world 2024
At embedded world 2024, Paul Williamson, Senior Vice President of IoT business at Arm, talks to Electronic Specifier's Editor, Mick Elliott, about their two big announcements they made at embedded world 2024.
The Ethos-U85 delivers a fourfold increase in performance and a 20% improvement in power efficiency compared to its predecessor, with scalability from 128 to 2048 MAC units (4 TOPs @1GHz). This makes it suitable for demanding applications like factory automation and smart home or commercial cameras. The Ethos-U85 maintains a consistent toolchain, allowing partners to leverage existing investments for a smooth developer experience. It also supports AI frameworks such as TensorFlow Lite and PyTorch, enhancing its utility in advanced applications.
Arm has also launched the Arm Corstone-320 IoT Reference Design Platform, which integrates its highest-performing Arm Cortex-M85 CPU, the Mali-C55 Image Signal Processor, and the new Ethos-U85 NPU, creating a robust solution for next-generation IoT developments.
