Tomorrow's Engineers Week 2023 (6 to 10 November 2023) started today, initiating a week dedicated to celebrating engineering and technology vocations with the aim to enthuse and guide future talent.

As it embarks on its 11th iteration, the yearly event will witness a collaborative effort from employers, engineering institutions, educational establishments, and professionals within the engineering and technological spheres, converging to vividly present the myriad of engineering roles to the youth.

The ambition for this year's Tomorrow's Engineers Week is to engage with upwards of 50,000 students over the course of the event. It represents a prime opportunity for the engineering and technology sectors to facilitate students' understanding of how their skills and interests can align with engineering roles, in addition to spotlighting the trailblazing engineers and technicians who are transforming the industry’s image among the younger demographic.

Dr Hilary Leevers, Chief Executive of EngineeringUK, the organisation behind Tomorrow’s Engineers Week, remarks: "Tomorrow's Engineers Week presents an excellent chance for us to demonstrate to young people, their mentors, and the wider public, the marvels of contemporary engineering. We urge the engineering collective — ranging from individual engineers to multinational corporations and professional bodies — to display inspiring career narratives, a range of role models, forthcoming opportunities, and the various entry points into the field."

Dr Leevers also encourages entities of all sizes to adopt actionable measures that directly benefit the youth. Whether it be through providing placements for T-levels, apprenticeships, or work experience, or engaging in school outreach programmes, businesses have numerous avenues to contribute to the cultivation of the next generation of talent. "For the continued prosperity of our sector, it is vital that each of us plays a role in ensuring that a more diverse cross-section of young people are well-informed, inspired, and able to progress into engineering and technological professions," Dr Leevers adds.

The week's festivities will kick off with a complimentary, live interactive session for schools on Monday, 6 November at 2pm. During this event, guest engineers from organisations including Space Solar, RWE, and Taylor Woodrow will impart their insights on how engineering influences various industries such as entertainment, technology, and environmental sectors.

Following the live session, students will have the chance to delve into a series of free, curriculum-aligned activities designed to stimulate interest in the broad range of opportunities that engineering offers. Engineers are invited to further inspire students by engaging with their queries on social media, with daily themes that cover turning passion into a career, envisioning future selves, local careers with global impact, and engineering thought processes.

Additionally, today marks the availability of tickets for Tomorrow’s Engineers Live 2024 – scheduled for 5 February 2024 in London. This event aims to unite the engineering and technology communities to exchange insights on inspiring future engineers, reaching underrepresented groups, promoting technical routes into the sector, and more.
