Superior Sensor Technology’s helps reduce chemical leaks

Superior Sensor Technology has announced its precise differential pressure sensor technology has the potential of greatly improving the detection of ammonia leaks or clogs in HVAC or industrial refrigeration equipment.

Using an advanced pressure sensor technology, called NimbleSense, the company’s differential pressure sensors achieve extreme pressure measurement accuracy within 0.05% of the selected pressure range. When used in HVAC and industrial equipment, this precise measurement capability enables the system to accurately monitor the pressure drop of ammonia as it flows through the equipment, alerting operators of a possible hazards.

HVAC and other industrial refrigeration equipment manufacturers use ammonia to cool the system.  If leaked, ammonia is extremely hazardous to humans causing eye and skin irritation, headaches, coughing, lung damage and other dangerous side effects. Superior Sensor’s differential pressure sensors can accurately detect changes in ammonia pressure flow at very low-pressure ranges, indicating possible leaks or clogs in the system. Melexis releases the magnetic position sensor of the future

The new MLX90376 is an absolute magnetic position sensor IC, handling 360° rotary automotive applications with strong stray field immunity (SFI).

Its dual-stacked die PCB-less version is unique to the market. The device supports system integration up to ASIL D level functional safety, offering state-of-the-art sensing for steering and valve applications. The blend of robustness and performance it offers will be of value for vehicle electrification.

Based on proprietary technology, the MLX90376 belongs to the Triaxis high-end family. Especially designed for demanding steering wheel angle, throttle valve and thermal management valve applications, this IC has a combination of features. These include:

  • Option for dual stacked die in a PCB-less solution
  • ASIL C Safety Element out of Context (SEooC), supporting up to ASIL D system integration (ISO 26262)
  • SFI of up to 5mT (4000A/m) for 360° rotary applications (ISO 11452-8) Click here to read more.

A proven range of motion detection: inertial sensor in vehicle engineering

It has become an essential prerequisite in times of the ongoing “electrification of everything”: Cars, motorbikes, autonomous buses, construction machines and many others will have to feature an increasing number of safety and comfort driver aids.

Comprehensive sensing is crucial to support many purposes like motion detection, positioning, sensor fusion, and inclination detection.

For these purposes, Panasonic Industry Europe developed – and continuously evolves – a 6-axis inertial sensor series that provides installation freedom, additional functionalities to onboard systems with this one-chip-solution, and – being ASIL-B(D)-compliant – a high level of functional safety.
