The sensor is a contactless sensor for accurate angular measurement over a full mechanical turn of 360°.

It features a robust architecture based on Hall sensor technology that measures the orthogonal component of the flux density (Bz) over a full-turn rotation.

The AS5116 magnetic position sensor uses a simple two-pole magnet rotating over the centre of the package to measure the angle.

This magnet can be placed above or below the device and the absolute angle measurement provides an instant indication of the magnet's angular position.

The angle information is provided by means of buffered differential sine and cosine voltages. This sensor offers high reliability, durability, low output noise, and high precision analogue output.

The ams AS5116 on-axis magnetic position sensor is AEC-Q100 qualified for use in automotive applications.
