Over-temperature ICs help cut power consumption
Authorised distributor Mouser Electronics is now stocking the Thermoflagger Over-Temperature ICs from Toshiba.
Designed to detect and protect against abnormal heat generation, the Thermoflagger ICs allow engineers to configure over-temperature detection for an entire electronic product easily.
The Thermoflagger Over-Temperature ICs help reduce size and power consumption for various applications, including mobile devices, home appliances, and industrial equipment.
These ICs are designed to be connected in series with positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistors placed near heat sources.
They monitor resistance over the thermistors, which increases exponentially in the event of over-temperature. Connecting PTC thermistors in series enables over-temperature detection for multiple locations.
The compact, highly efficient Thermoflagger ICs offer low power consumption of 11.3 μA, while the standard SOT-553 package makes them a suitable choice for consumer electronic devices such as laptops and mobile devices.
The ICs feature an operating supply voltage range of 1.7 V to 5.5 V, a detect voltage range of 0.36 V to 0.64 V, and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
They offer a high PTCO output current accuracy of ±8%, as well as a selectable PTCO output current.
