Low power encoders offer 12-bit and 14-bit resolutions
CUI Devices has announced the addition of two absolute encoder series, outputting 12 bits or 14 bits of single-turn absolute position information, to its line of AMT modular encoders. The AMT21 series, featuring high speed RS-485 communication, and the AMT23 series, designed with a Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI), are based on CUI Devices' proprietary capacitive sensing technology.
The capacitive platform offers a highly durable and accurate position feedback solution that is resilient to the dirt, dust, and oil typically encountered in motion applications.
Housed in compact packages measuring as small as 1.53x1.12x0.40" (39x28x10 mm) with a locking hub for easy installation, the two series boast a low current draw of 8mA at 5V and accuracy of ±0.2 mechanical degrees, making them well suited for battery-powered industrial, robotics, and automation applications.
Both models come in either radial or axial orientations and carry an operating temperature range from -40 to +105°C. Thanks to the digital nature of these absolute encoders, the AMT21 and AMT23 are highly customisable and configurable with the ability to programme the direction of rotation and zero position via CUI Devices' AMT Viewpoint software. The AMT’s simple design further reduces the time consuming tasks of mounting and alignment to mere seconds with the One Touch Zero feature.
Designed to mate with a broad range of motors, the AMT21 and AMT23 are also featured as a kit that contains nine sleeve bore options ranging from 2-8mm, two simple mounting tools, and one standard and one wide baseplate with multiple pre-drilled mounting hole patterns, offering users flexibility in their design.
