Kaman Measuring release ThreadChecker with inspection capabilities
Kaman Measuring has announced the release of its enhanced ThreadChecker. This line of non-contact, application-specific sensors offers robust and reliable verification of thread presence or absence in almost any electrically conductive material.
The ThreadChecker, a teachable eddy current inspection tool, is extensively used for applications such as thread detection, material sorting, checking for plating presence, and determining the absence of heat treatment. It can detect any physical property difference related to material conductivity. These sensors are readily available in stock for immediate dispatch.
The ThreadChecker is especially suitable for automated inspection processes. It comprises a single electronics module that is compatible with any probe/material combination, enabling it to check threads irrespective of the cleanliness of the part, thereby reducing implementation costs.
Built on Kaman’s established eddy current technology, the ThreadChecker is tailored for in-die use. It includes four internal probes with sizes ranging from 4mm to 10mm, and two external probes sized 6mm and 8mm. It also offers a DIN rail mounting option. The ThreadChecker is CE-compliant and its probes and electronics are rated IP-67.
It is available with both switched and analog outputs. With the switched output, the sensor connects to a PLC or other control system, set to trigger an alarm if no thread is detected. Alternatively, the analog voltage can be monitored, allowing the PLC or control device to be programmed with appropriate limits for the specific application.
