Live fibre network long-haul data session success
Verizon, along with Infinera, recently completed a successful test in Verizon’s live fibre network to move 800Gbps of data on a single wavelength across extreme distances. This success hopes to lay the groundwork for managing the fast gigabit speeds, super low single-digit millisecond latency, and huge scalability that will come as a result of Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wide Band (UWB) network.
Mining site power plant to utilise solar energy
The technology group Wärtsilä will supply the engineering, equipment, and technical advisory for a 44 MW power plant to be installed at the Mansourah & Massarah Gold Project mine in Saudi Arabia. It will be the first newbuild power project in the country to utilise a hybrid concept, with engine technology and solar energy and will allow the mining site power plant to efficiently utilise solar energy.
SO-DIMM modules with or without ECC in range of temperatures
Memphis Electronic has announced that it is now sampling 32GB DDR4 modules for industrial applications. Many of today’s CPUs are designed to support up to 32GB of unbuffered DDR4 per available UDIMM or SO-DIMM slot, until now, such high density modules have been rarely available on the market.
