Decreasing lighting assembly space – the do’s and don’ts
For any business that is looking to decrease the assembly space required for its illumination system, there are a variety of ways to achieve this goal. Global Lighting Technologies has put together the top do’s and don’ts for getting it done right.
AC/DC inverters provide up to 4500VA
Power supply specialist Powersolve announces its PJN series of AC/DC sine wave inverters which provide between 1000VA and 4500VA from a DC input between 40 to 60VDC. They also take 230VAC mains input enabling them to operate in a UPS mode and switch over to 48VDC batteries automatically when the incoming mains fails. This make the PJN Series suitable for telecoms systems that use a 230VAC input supply and 48VDC battery back-up.
Bespoke LED modules designed for optimum light output
Most luminaire designers would agree that bespoke made-to-measure LED modules are preferable from a performance and design perspective, despite there being awide variety of standard sizes and standard powers and outputs of LED modules available on the market. This is where Fulham’s service in providing bespoke LED modules comes into its own.
Kits enable safer visual inspection capability
Two inspection kits from Laserliner are in stock at RS Components. The kits offer maintenance engineers and technicians visual inspection capability in areas that are difficult to reach or in potentially dangerous environments. The first kit is the Laserliner VideoFlex G3 Ultra Plus for professional recordable digital video inspection, which is exclusive to RS.
LED portfolio expands to target general lighting applications
Plessey has announced that it is extending its LED product portfolio into a variety of mid-power LED packages. Plessey now offers lighting equipment manufacturers a complete portfolio of solid-state lighting products and solutions for all general illumination market applications.Plessey’s mid-power LED product offering, called MIDION, includes products with leading-edge performance with efficacies up to 210 Lm/W, modules with zero flicker a...
Upgraded interconnect system provides higher speeds
Through expanding itszSFP+ Interconnect System to support 56Gbps PAM-4 channels in a stacked 2xN port configuration, Molex is allowing next-gen Ethernet and fibre channel applications to receive signal integrity. OEMs requiring high-density interconnect applications now have the ability to utilise channels with individual lane data rates up to 56Gbps PAM-4 in a stacked 2xN configuration.
LED technology plays a key role in hazardous location warning signals
This year’s Offshore Europe Aberdeen conference, held from the 5th to the 8th of September, will see E2S Warning Signals exhibit its range of alarm horn sounders, beacons, loudspeakers and call points.
Protection solutions at productronica India 2017
Electrolube will be exhibiting and presenting at productronica India. According to the company, products taking centre stage at this year’s show include HFAC - a high performance and halogen-free acrylic conformal coating, HTCX-ZF – a zinc oxide-free thermal paste as well as a new range of high-performance resins specifically for LEDs.
LED technology: now you see me, now you don’t
In an advance that could boost the efficiency of LED lighting by 50% and even pave the way for invisibility cloaking devices, a team of University of Michigan researchers has developed a new technique that peppers metallic nanoparticles into semiconductors. It's the first technique that can inexpensively grow metal nanoparticles both on and below the surface of semiconductors.
5 ways to reduce power without sacrificing LED brightness
When designinga custom lighting solution, there are many different goals to take into consideration. One of the most essential may be reducing the power supply needs of the system. Doing so can provide further benefits, such as improving reliability and expected shelf life, and reducing space and size constraints. Benefits often come with tradeoffs; traditionally, when you reduce power you may need to reduce brightness at the same time.
