Filtering out common mode noise in congested environments
A multitude of factors are conspiring to increase the amount of ‘noise’ interference that can disturb the functionality and even damage electronic devices, starting with the sheer number used in our vicinity at any given time.
Pinpointing cable faults with thermal imaging
Heavy industries such as mining, shipbuilding and materials handling rely on heavy, rugged, industrial cables to ensure continuous power supply or communication, because of this the consequences of a cable break are costly. So, for the German cable repair specialist Becker and Hüser, FLIR thermal imaging is playing a vital role in helping to pinpoint the exact location of the problem.
Switch mode power supplies allow upgrade without PCB redesign
The 47000 series encapsulated Switch Mode Power Supplies from Myrra is now available at JPR Electronics. This is a range of encapsulated, PCB mountable power supplies from 1W up to 60W. The range includes power supplies with VDE & UL approvals, CE marked and meet class B EMC standards without any additional external components.
DC-DC converters drive capacitive loads of up to 1000µF
Now available fromDengrove Electronic Components are RECOM’s R1DX dual-output isolated DC-DC converters offering a choice of ±5V, ±9V, ±12V or ±15V bipolar outputs. These open-frame, surface-mount power modules are convenient and compact, measuring just 15.2mm x 10.7mm and only 8.0mm high.
Microcontroller balancing act demands a new process
A new semiconductor process combines lower leakage with low standby current modes, writes Graeme Clark, Renesas Electronics Europe
Do power systems make the grade for autonomous vehicles?
Voltage and current levels will change, but the requirements for low EMI/EMC emissions will not, argues Tony Armstrong, Analog Devices.
Supercapacitor module offers lifetime up to 20 years
A supercapacitor module from Eaton that delivers high reliability, high power and ultra-high capacitance energy storage is available now at TTI. Utilising electrochemical double-layer capacitor (EDLC) construction, the Eaton XLR-48 supercapacitor module can be used as a sole energy source or in combination with batteries to optimise cost, lifetime and run time.
Capacitors enable design of thinner end products
The T55 series of vPolyTan surface-mount polymer tantalum moulded chip capacitors from Vishay Intertechnology has been extended with devices in the Z case (EIA 7343-19) size. With a 0.1mm lower height than devices in the standard V case (EIA 7343-20), the Vishay Polytech capacitors increase package density and enable the design of thinner end products.
Components for smart systems at embedded world
At embedded world 2019, Würth Elektronik eiSos will presents a wide variety of new electronic and electromechanical components at Hall 3, Booth 3-247. A focus in the manufacturer’s extensive trade show program will be sensors and wireless modules for embedded systems. In various forums and presentations at the trade show, technicians and developers will inform visitors about technological trends and new products.
microBUCK regulator delivers up to 75W output power
The power ICs line at New Yorker Electronics has been upgraded by the Vishay Siliconix SiC462 4.5V to 60V Synchronous microBUCK Regulator. The SiC462 is a synchronous buck regulator with integrated high-side and low-side power MOSFETs. It is a high-efficiency buck regulator with a power state capable of supplying a continuous current of 6A at a switching frequency of up to 1MHz.
