Platform tests analogue, mixed-signal, sensor ICs
An evolutionary value-added platform that combines digital and analogue testing capabilities to handle small-pin-count analogue, mixed-signal and sensor semiconductors has been unveiled by Advantest. The EVA100’s expandable architecture provides the flexibility to conduct a wide range of measurement functions.
Test rig speeds evaluation of power management chips
Testing power management devices is a task with a number of requirements. Manufacturers need to demonstrate the capabilities of the device. They also want to give their customers relevant information to develop their applications. And these test re necessary both during the actual development of the semiconductor device and as hardware or firmware changes are made, the test have to be repeated to ensure the correct functioning of the chip.
Digital oscilloscopes get mixed-signal extensions
The mixed signal versions of Rigol Technologies DS2000A and DS1000Z oscilloscopes are now available. The instruments now enable easier configuration thanks to the addition of a multilingual user interface. The digital oscilloscopes detect signal and device characteristics with comprehensive trigger functions, and advanced hardware based real time waveform records, replay, search and analysis functions.

Open source test instrument in production
RS Components (RS) is taking general orders for Red Pitaya, the single-board, open instrumentation and control platform. Prospective buyers who previously registered their interest on the Red Pitaya website, and who have been awaiting availability of the product, were given the opportunity to place a priority order with RS, which guarantees them delivery of a Red Pitaya board from the first limited production run in May 2014.
Free oscilloscope on offer at ElectroTestExpo
Visitors to the ‘ElectroTestExpo’ PCB test and debug exhibition will get the chance to win a free Tektronix digital storage oscilloscope. The event takes place at Cambridge Science Park on June 18. The TBS1000 will be won by a visitor who will be able to take the instrument home (or work!) on the day.
425W power supply solves T&M power challenges
Addressing the unique power needs of test equipment, theTU425 Series AC/DC power supply has been launched bySL Power Electronics. The 425W, single-output power supply has been designed fortest equipment such as oscilloscopes, analyzers, test boards, chromatography mass detectors as well as industrial process control systems that require clean, reliable power for the highest level of performance.
Industry's highest performing 2GSPS data converter
Able to discern smaller signals in the presence of noise, clutter, blockers and interferers, the 12-bit, 2GSPS, AD9625 ADC has been introduced by Analog Devices. The manufacturer has claimed that it offers the best noise and dynamic range performance in its class for better receiver sensitivity.
Jay Alexander named as CTO of Keysight Technologies
Industry veteran Jay Alexander has been named Keysight Technologies’ chief technology officer. Agilent announced in September 2013 that it would separate into two publicly traded companies in 2014. Agilent’s Electronic Measurement Group is expected to begin operating as Keysight Technologies in August 2014. Alexander’s appointment is effective immediately.
