Suhel Dhanani, Director of Business Development, and Jeff DeAngelis, Managing Director, Industrial & Healthcare Business Unit, Maxim Integrated explain how best to implement an Industrial IoT (IIoT) framework.
Schaffner delivers record sales in fiscal 2017/18
In fiscal year 2017/18 the Schaffner Group continued its profitable growth, with sales expanding in all three divisions. Compared to the prior year (PY), order intake (i.e., new orders) rose by 12% to CHF 223.5 million (PY: CHF 199.5 million). Gross margin was 28.4%, as in the prior year.
Mid-range antenna problems solved with magnetic emitter
Manufacturer of inductive components, Premo, has announced the LFAD-Series (Diabolo-shape) antennas, providing up to 50% reduction in length aiming to produce same H-field with a different L/D core relationship. Most of the LF antennas in the market have a length 70 to 80mm for standard range, 150 to 170mm for mid-range and 250 to 350mm for long-range (Alma-Core).
Hall-effect current sensors offer enhanced performance and diagnostics
Global microelectronics engineering company, Melexis, has announced two new current sense ICs based upon their 20 years of experience in Hall-effect technology. Both of the new sensors share the same high-performance CMOS core and the MLX91217 implements conventional Hall technology, while the MLX91216 uses Melexis’ proprietary Integrated Magneto Concentrator (IMC).
Low-power door sensor with coin cell battery life reference design
The TIDA-01066 TI design uses Texas Instruments' ultra-low power consumption digital Hall effect sensors and the SimpleLink ultra-low power sub-1GHz wireless microcontroller (MCU) platform to demonstrate a door and window sensor with extremely long battery life and no wiring required.
SPS IPC Drives: Safety sensors for operator protection
Safety systems for the protection of personnel are this year’s hot topic for Contrinex at SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg, Hall 7A, Stand 406. Highlights include the unveiling of two new series of safety sensors, certified category 4 according to ISO 13849-1. Types are available with magnetic or RFID coding, which ensures immunity to mutual interference, and also largely eliminates the risk of tampering.
PREMO announced the 3DP-Series Transformer + Chokes
PREMO announced the 3DP-Series (3kW_HVLV & 7kW_HVHV) Transformer + Chokes, providing up to 40-50% reduction in volume compared with current discrete industrial solutions for the same power management. Other topologies and powers are under design (11kW and 22kW).
R&D innovation centre opened in Japan
The opening of a new R&D and innovation centre in Toyama, Japan has been announced by COSEL. In a brand new, purpose built building with a floor space of 8,200 square meters, 250 R&D employees will have access to advanced equipment and technologies to design high quality power solutions with a reduced time-to-market.
Energy-saving LED lighting range is low maintenance
A comprehensive range of RS Pro LED lighting products has been introduced by RS Components. They can be used in a range of energy-saving and low-maintenance lighting applications including torches and inspection lights, high-bay lighting, ceiling panels, battens and floodlights.
