New PAT Checkbox Tests The Testers
Test instrument manufacturer Seaward Electronic Ltd. has introduced a new checkbox to verify the in-service performance of portable appliance testers.
CAD-Embedded CFD Helps Drill Bit Company Solve Erosion Problem
Encore Bits LLC solved a difficult erosion problem in an oilfield drill bit by using FloEFD computational fluid dynamics software from Mentor Graphics Mechanical Analysis (formerly Flomerics) to improve flow around the bit. Salvo made changes in the bit geometry and nozzle configuration that substantially increased its life and enhanced cuttings removal. “CFD helped us understand the problem and guided us as we iterated the design to an optimiz...
Phidgets releases the 1127 – Precision Light Sensor
Phidgets Inc. released today the 1127 – Precision Light Sensor which measures human perceptible light level in lux.
The 1018 PhidgetInterfaceKit 8/8/8 now has built-in hardware noise filtering on the Digital Inputs
Phidgets Inc. announced that he new version of the 1018 PhidgetInterfaceKit 8/8/8 now has a Digital Input Hardware Filter that eliminates false triggering from electrical noise. The digital input is filtered by a 2-stage filter, rejecting noise of higher frequency than 1Khz. This filter generally eliminates the need to shield the digital input from inductive and capacitive coupling likely to occur in wiring harnesses.
UNIVERSALLY ADAPTABLE CONTROL HEADS FOR HYGIENIC PROCESS VALVES IN DECENTRALISED AUTOMATION SYSTEMS
Burkert’s new 8681 control head has been developed specially for use with pneumatically controlled hygienic process valves in decentralised automation applications. The Type 8681 compliments Bürkert’s clean line ELEMENT series of control heads, digital positioners and process controllers, for diaphragm, angle seat, globe, ball and butterfly valves, effectively expanding Burkert’s extensive hygienic processing range for the food/beverage an...
Motion Designer GUI software adds trajectory control, analysis and optimisation tools for complex motion profiles
Aerotech’s new Motion Designer software provides an easy-to-use graphical user interface for generating, analysing motion trajectories and also improving the performance of complex motion profiles. The software greatly simplifies trajectory programming and reduces development time where an exact motion profile, simulating a dynamic environment or real-world conditions, needs to be generated. Furthermore, applications requiring optimal performan...
Measurement Computing edition supports Visual Studio 2008
Adept Scientific is pleased to announce the release of Measurement Computing’s Measurement Studio version 8.6, Measurement Computing edition.
Collaboration provides NX users the ability to use Maple’s computational power to analyse and optimise designs
Maplesoft announced a partnership with Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management software and services.
MapleSim™ Connector for LabVIEW™ and NI VeriStand™ Software lets users better manage complex engineering models
Maplesoft™ has announced a product upgrade that extends connectivity to key hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) products from National Instruments™ (NI). In addition to connectivity to NI LabVIEW™, which was announced recently, this updated MapleSim add-on, which is available from Adept Scientific (Letchworth, Herts), also lets users connect to the new NI VeriStand™ product.
Encoders go wireless with BEI’s SwiftComm™ interface
Real-time wireless control is finally a reality with BEI Industrial Encoders’ introduction of Swiftcomm, a wireless interface for encoders. SwiftComm was designed from the ground up for motion control applications, providing an extremely robust wireless signal in real time over a secure network. Unlike other wireless technology such as Wi-Fi, SwiftComm’s fast boot-up and transmission time allow it to seamlessly interface with existing contr...
