Conference aims to improve industrial-academic relationships
Academics, technology transfer offices, funding bodies and industrialists are being brought together to explore the options available to improve industrial-academic relationships. The conference, spearheaded by Cambridge Wireless and entitled ‘Academia and Industry Working Together: More Than a Letter of Support’, will take place on 12th December, at Newnham College in Cambridge.
38 mm head-on PMT offers 3x faster response
A new 38 mm head-on PMT, offering 3 times faster response than previous models, has been announced by Hamamatsu. Hamamatsu will exhibit the R12845 at the IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium/Medical Imaging 2013 Conference in Seoul, South Korea from the 27th October to the 2nd November (exhibit of the R12845 will be for 3 days from the 29th October).
Phonic crystal laser provides high beam quality at single wavelength
A next-generation laser light source that provides high output and high beam quality at a single wavelength, while simultaneously controlling beam spread has been announced by Hamamatsu. Developed by a group from Hamamatsu Photonics and Kyoto University’s Photonics and Electronics Science and Engineering Center, samples will be offered to instrument manufacturers by spring 2014.
Photocathode enables high near-infrared sensitivity for Micro PMT
A new multialkali photocathode has been developed by Hamamatsu, providing high near-infrared sensitivity for its next-generation Micro PMT. The Micro PMT is an ultra-compact photomultiplier device that is manufactured with semiconductor manufacturing technology and can be produced in high volumes.

Imec today announced the release of its fully integrated silicon photonics platform (iSiPP25G) for high-performance optical transceivers (25Gb/s and beyond). Imec’s portfolio includes low loss (2.5dB/cm) strip waveguides, highly efficient grating couplers (2.5dB insertion loss), high-speed (50GHz) Germanium waveguide photodiodes, 25Gb/s Mach-Zhender and Micro-ring modulators.
