DC/DC regulators offer choice with 100% compatible footprint
Ericsson has introduced two new 3E DC-DC regulators to its family of BMR461 12 x 12 x 8mm digital POL modules. The two new variants in the BMR461 family offer current outputs of 6A (BMR4612001) and 18A (BMR4614001) and join the existing 12A version (BMR4613001) launched toward the end of last year.
Radiation hardened regulator suited for aerospace
Claiming to be the industry’s first radiation hardened 12V input POL synchronous buck switching regulator, the ISL70003SEH has been unveiled by Intersil. The regulator is capable of operating over an input voltage range of 3.0 to 13.2V for aerospace and satellite power applications.
Debug support announced for µCLinux on Cortex-M3/M4
µCLinux on Cortex-M3/M4 microprocessors is now supported by Lauterbach'sTRACE32 tools. The TRACE32 tools also enable the off-chip trace for Cortex-M to be extended from DWT (Data Watchpoint and Trace Unit) into a task-aware trace, which allows non-intrusive runtime and performance evaluation.
DC/DC converter extends battery life in WSNs
Designed to extendthe life of a primary battery in low power wireless system networks (WSNs), theLTC3107 is aDC/DC converter from Linear. The devicecombines energy harvesting and power management capability with a primary battery cell to extend the battery’s usable lifetime.
Development kit for XMC1000 microcontrollers
Providing developers with a free-to-use professional tool suite for the Infineon XMC1000 microcontroller series, Arm has revealed that Infineon has licensed the Keil Microcontroller Development Kit (MDK) Silicon Vendor Edition. Based on Keil MDK Version 5, the MDK for Infineon XMC1000 includes the genuine ARM C/C++ Compiler, the CMSIS-RTOS RTX Kernel and the µVision IDE/Debugger.
'Lab-in-a-Box' aims to support electronics & computer students
Aiming to support electronics and computer engineering courses, ARM have announced that it has started shipping its ‘Lab-in-a-Box’ (LiB) with its partners to higher educational institutions around the globe. The LiB contains ARM-based technology and high quality, rigorous training materials that support electronics and computer engineering courses.
Regulators address multiple voltage rail requirements
Suitable forcomplex industrial and medical systems, theISL85410 and ISL85418 synchronous buck regulatorsdown-convert the DC voltage from a power supply or battery to power multiple microprocessors and board components. This conversion can occur at various voltage requirements and helps to minimise power loss.
Cortex-A5 evaluation kit speeds microprocessor-based designs
Farnell element14 and Atmel today (February 25) announced the launch of Atmel’s new SAMA5D3 Xplained evaluation kit, a low-cost, fast prototyping and evaluation platform for microprocessor-based design. The board, which is based on Atmel’s SAMA5D3 ARM Cortex-A5 processor-based MPU, comes with a rich set of ready-to-use connectivity and storage peripherals, along with Arduino shield-compatible expansion headers for easy customisation.
Controller supports up to 40 simultaneous touch points
Designed for touchscreens that have diagonals greater than 55-inches, the ZXY300 has been introduced to complement Zytronic's portfolio of rugged, ultra-large format, multi-touch touch sensors. Based on the company's MPCT projected capacitive (p-cap) technology, the controller enables far better touch point resolution to be achieved whilst maintaining millisecond level response speeds.
Embedded World 2014: JTAGLive tools on parade
JTAG Technologies will feature its JTAGLive products at this month’s Embedded World exhibition in Nuremberg (Feb 25-26). This package of JTAG/boundary-scan tools enables designers and manufacturing test engineers alike to develop complete test and programming applications. The benefits offered for debugging, testing and in-system programming are not limited to complex designs with many JTAG devices.
