Digi-Key inks global deal with Navitas
Navitas Semiconductor and Digi-Key Electronics have completed a distribution agreement to provide worldwide, 24-hour availability and accelerate market penetration and revenue ramp of GaNFast power ICs. They are said to be the world’s first GaNFast power ICs to enable power systems to simultaneously achieve MHz-frequency and highest-efficiency operation.
Power GaN: Who is part of the playground?
Eight years have passed since the first commercialised power GaN device. People in the power electronics industry are becoming increasingly familiar with the names of startups that are actively promoting GaN technology. Efficient Power Conversion (EPC), GaN Systems, Transphorm or Navitas, in addition to the power electronics leaders, are also highly involved in the development of GaN technology.
Would Apple change the power GaN world?
Over a long period, industrial companies followed up at a distance the development of GaN-based solutions mainly managed by R&D institutes and laboratories. Today the context has changed.
First integrated half-bridge GaN IC reduces size, cost and weight
Navitas Semiconductor announces what it believes is the industry’s first integrated half-bridge Gallium Nitride (GaN) Power IC, with the introduction of the NV6250.
GaN ICs circuitry reduces frequency-related power losses
Navitasbelieves it has developed theworld’s first GaN power IC, based on its proprietary AllGaN technology.
A new lease of life for gas-fired power stations
A technology has been developed by UK energy start-up, VN-H Power Generation (VN-HPG), that has the potential to turn loss-making gas-fired power stations back to profit and reduce their environmental impact, making them once more commercially viable for operators and a realistic contributor to national power generation strategies.
Power ICs integrate GaN FETS and logic
Believed to be the first GaN power ICs, Navitas introduces its ICs, based on its proprietary AllGaN monolithically-integrated 650V platform. They combine GaN power FETs with GaN logic and drive circuits, claimed to enable 10 to 100 times higher switching frequency than exisiting silicon circuits.
