Optimise automotive sensing with Hall effect sensors
Improving the safety of vehicle drivers and passengers is receiving ever greater emphasis, with automotive engineers deploying sensing devices in their systems that deliver increased sophistication and set higher performance benchmarks. By Dieter Verstreken, Melexis.
Interface & switching products showcased at Amper
Pickering Interfaces will showcase its catalogue of PXI and Ethernet LXI switching solutions at Amper, in Hall 5, Booth 3.18 from 24th to 27th March 2015. These products include Pickering’s Ethernet LXI, PXI, Programmable Resistors, Microwave Multiplexer and PCI Ranges.
What are the major technical challenges for EVs?
Mustafa Dinc, Global Director, Automotive Business Development, Vishay Intertechnology, looks at what EV designers need to address in terms of power management and component design.
What goes around
The demand for more sophisticated electronic industrial motor control is growing. Steve Rogerson looks at the drivers and the difficulties facing developers.
16A PXI switching modules suit EV applications
Following the success of its 16A uncommitted relay modules, Pickering Interfaces has introduced two 16A PXI switching modules. The PXI power multiplexer module is available in seven configurations ranging from 4-off 2:1 multiplexers to 1-off 16:1 multiplexer. The PXI power matrix module is available in four configurations with matrix sizes of 8x2 and 4x4 and the ability to expand the matrix size with the Y-Axis loop-through connections.
A test method for synchronising multiple GSPS converters
By Shane Foss & Rob Reeder, Analog Devices.
Solid-state relays arrive with heatsink included
The Kudom KSV series solid-state relays (SSRs) are available at distributor Switchtec. They offer fast, reliable switching in applications requiring a high operating speed and a long electrical life. The modular, DIN rail mount relays feature high performance characteristics and are simple to order as the heatsink is included, reducing serial number options.
How to drive more peripherals with lower power dissipation
Watch to learn how making a small change in your low-side drivers can make a big impact on the system’s power dissipation. Darlington transistor arrays are commonly used with an MCU to interface to devices with higher power demands like motors, relays and LEDs.
Resistor & relay cards feature a 0.25-2Ω resolution
PCI and PXI programmable resistor and relay cards, which feature 12 resistor channel options, a resolution of 0.25-2Ω and channel counts of either two or four, have been released by Pickering Interfaces. To extend the resistance range within a test system, the 50-294 PCI card and the 40-294 PXI card are optionally available with eight SPST relays.
Green Hills now supports extended range of ImgTec MIPS CPU IP
Green Hills Softwareand Imagination Technologies have announced that Green Hills tools and compilers now support an expanded range of Imagination’s MIPS CPU IP. This includes optimised support for the microMIPS code compression Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) and support for MIPS Warrior M-class and I-class CPUs, including key architectural features such as hardware virtualisation.
