Force sensor with high impact resistance designed for stylus pens
Alps has added the HSFPAR004A Force Sensor to its lineup. According to the company, the sensor enhances impact resistance while maintaining the industry’s smallest sizeand offers high linearity and high resolution, which makes it suitable for use in stylus pens and other input devices.
What do developers need to know about current sensing technology?
ACEINNAhas announced the availability of a new whitepaper for engineers involved in developing power management solutions for a wide range of industrial applications. Written by Khagendra Thapa, VP Current Sensor Product for ACEINNA, this new whitepaper outlines the basic issues that are addressed by current sensors and why they are important.
PCIM Europe – where power is at the core of innovation
This year’s PCIM Europe was attended by a record number of visitors, over 12,000. Over half (54%) were from outside Germany. They came to see over 500 exhibitors and while the subject matter was diverse and wide-ranging, there were some themes that emerged. GaN and SiC jostled for attention at this year’s PCIM Europe, writes Caroline Hayes, alongside current sensor developments designed to accelerate adoption rates for electric vehicl...
Stable coreless current sensors for industrial applications
At this year’s PCIM trade fair, Infineon Technologies will launch a new family of current sensors and is presenting its first member. The family will consist of precise and stable coreless Hall sensors. They offer a high level of flexibility as customers can individually program product parameters such as the current range, the overcurrent threshold and the output mode.
Coreless current sensor IC at PCIM Europe
Specialist in power and sensing solutions for motion control and energy efficient systems, Allegro MicroSystems, will show a new coreless current sensor IC and the industry’s quietest brushless DC (BLDC) motor control solution at the PCIM Europe 2019 Exhibition (Nuremberg, Germany, 7th to 9th May) in Hall 6, Booth 255.
Reed relay suits high-PCB-density applications
The reed relay company with a focus on miniaturisation and high performance, Pickering Electronics, has added a new 10W-rated reed relay to its successful 4mm2 product family which features devices that occupy a PCB footprint of only four by four millimetres, facilitating the highest packing density currently available.
10W reed relay suits high-speed test systems
Series 122 relays from Pickering Interfaces measure 12.5mm in height and are rated with a switching current of 0.5A at 10W. 3V and 5V coils are available. The 10W-rated reed relay is an addition to its 4mm2 product family which features devices that occupy a PCB footprint of only 4mm x 4mm, facilitating the high packing density.
Sensors/actuators reach record sales on slower growth
Inventory corrections, slowing smartphone shipments, and pullbacks in purchase orders throttled sales growth in semiconductor sensors and actuators last year, resulting in a subpar six percent increase in 2018 to a record high $14.7bn after double-digit percentage gains in 2017 and 2016, according to IC Insights’ 2019O-S-D Report - A Market Analysis and Forecast for Optoelectronics, Sensors/Actuators, and Discretes.
SiC switches in motor drive applications
Patrick Baginski, Vincotech, takes a closer look at the benefits, impacts and limitations of SiC switches to the induction motor
Achieving very precise measurement
There are many different types of current measurement technologies, from basic shunt and Hall Effect devices to more complex systems, explains Loic Moreau, Danisense
