Emergency messaging platforms cover more than one programme
A series offlexible hardware/software emergency messaging platforms fromDigital Alert Systems,a division of Monroe Electronics, have been upgraded. In cooperation with DM Engineering, the DASDEC series now supports the DM Engineering Multi-Station Relay Adapter (MSRA) and Multi-Station Relay Expander (MSRE) switching devices.
From 1080p to 4k and beyond
Increasing display resolution and higher refresh rates are putting pressure on today’s display interface standards, writes Sally Ward-Foxton for ES Design magazine.
'World's first' VESA DSC training is offered
The world's first video compressiontraining, focusing on the VESA DSCstandard, is being offered by Hardent. The training will help engineers and designers understand the latest video compression technology andthe practical implications of designing a product compatible with the VESA DSC v1.1 video compression standard.
ScanningRuler's 3D vision boosts robot picking productivity
A 3D camera solution, designed to make vision-guided robot picking applicationsmore productive and cost-effective, has been introduced by SICK UK. The ScanningRuler’s large field of view enables accurate 3D imaging of stationary objects, boosting the productivity of high-throughput robotics applications and making it easier for robot integrators to achieve volume picking in heavy industrial applications.
Getting started with motor control
Today’s motor control products increasingly come with a variety of supporting material, including free algorithms, to help speed up time to market. Sally Ward-Foxton reports for ES Design magazine.
Digital resolver offers single cable connectivity
Reducing the amount of cabling required within a servo motion system, the SFD3 digital resolver has been launched by Kollmorgen. Supplied as highly scalable motion control packages, the resolver can be used to both replace older more complicated solutions and as the first choice for new systems.
Hall encoder's 10-bit angle detection saves energy
A hall encoder, claimed to save energy, has been introduced by iC-Haus. TheiC-TW11, which allows for a 10-bit angle detection, has a sampling rate and10Hz, with an average current consumption oftypically 3μA. In standby mode between measuring cycles the idle currentcuts back to approximately 100nA. In normal operation the iC-TW11 supports samplingrates of 4kHz with an activated filter and automatic amplifier gain for 10-bit resolutionat maximu...
Reflective optical encoders target motion control
Avago Technologies has introduced a series 3-channel reflective optical encoder devices suitable for use in low power miniaturised motion control systems such as stepper motors, electrical actuators, piezoelectric drives and portable medical appliances. The manufacturer has claimed that the AEDR-87xx is the industry’s smallest 3-channel reflective optical encoder.
Servo motor system is robust and low-cost
A combined motor and resolver claimed to be robust while also lower in cost, smaller in size and lighter in weight than other servo motor systems, has been launched by QuickSilver. This is because the sensor in the Mosolver is based on a polymide sensor coil, therefore, unlike other systems, the environmental limits of the servo aculator are limited by the motor rather than the sensor.
DC power sources target long life at full power
A series of high-performance bench-top or rack-mount power sources, designed for long life at full power, has been launched by Powersolve. The five models in the SM3300 Series can work from practically any mains supply including three phase, providing the input voltage is between 180V and 528VAC. All models feature active power factor correction with auto-ranging DC outputs on four of them. They can also be operated in serial or parallel configura...
