NTT DOCOMO, Renesas, Fujitsu, and Sharp to Jointly Develop Platform for HSUPA Mobile Phone
Renesas Technology Corp., Fujitsu Limited, and Sharp Corporation today announced that they plan to jointly develop the SH-Mobile G4 single-chip LSI device, and a platform incorporating it, to support the HSUPA1/HSDPA2/W-CDMA and GSM/GPRS/EDGE (2G) mobile telephony standards. Development of the platform is targeted for completion by the forth quarter of fiscal 2009 (January–March 2010).
Renesas Technology to Release R8C/Mx Series of Flash MCUs with Extremely Low Power Consumption and Powerful On-Chip Peripheral Functions
Renesas Technology Europe today announced the release of the R8C/Mx Series of low-pin-count MCUs with on-chip flash memory (flash MCUs) offering power consumption among the lowest in the industry and improved functions including timers for applications requiring low power consumption, such as electric shavers, electric toothbrushes, and other compact electrical household appliances.
Renesas Claims Industry’s First Microcontroller Integrating Near Field Communication (NFC) and Security Functions for Smartphones
Renesas introduced the industry’s first product in the RF20 series of microcontrollers (MCUs), the RF21S, that combines on a single chip a near-field communication (NFC, Note 1) controller supporting the ISO/IEC 18092 international standard along with secure element functionality for use in consumer electronics products such as smartphones and other mobile phones, notebook PCs and PC peripherals.
Toshiba's New Technology Cuts Phase Noise in Oscillation ICs for Wireless Communication
Toshiba announced that it has developed noise reduction technology that reduces jitter in radio-frequency signals, cutting phase noise by up to 90 percent. This breakthrough opens the way for a further migration to high-speed wireless communication chips for wireless LAN and WiMAX.
Toshiba - 19nm process NAND flash memory
Toshiba Electronics Europe, reinforcing its leadership in the development and fabrication of cutting-edge, high density NAND flash memories, today announced that it has fabricated NAND flash memories with 19nm process technology, the finest level yet achieved. This latest technology advance has already been applied to 2-bit-per-cell 64-gigabit (Gb) chips that are the world's smallest and offer the highest density on a single chip (8 gigabytes (GB...
Single-chip inverters suit appliance and industrial motion control applications
Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched a new generation of single-chip inverters for brushless DC motor applications operating with voltages up to 500V. Available in PWM and non-PWM versions, the new devices integrate into a DIP26 package full three-phase inverter bridge operation and other key features including protection and integrated bootstrap diodes.
32-bit MCU Families With Ethernet, CAN, USB and 128kB RAM Extend Portfolio via High-Performance Connectivity
Microchip is building on the success of its 80MHz 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller (MCU) portfolio with three new families. The new PIC32MX5/6/7 families are designed specifically for data-intensive applications running several software stacks simultaneously and are complemented by Microchip’s free software stacks, making it easier for embedded designers to add connectivity to their applications.
Microchip Offers Unique Advanced Security Features On Its 16-Bit Microcontroller Family
Microchip has announced that its dsPIC ® digital signal controllers (DSCs) and PIC24H microcontrollers (MCUs) are the first 16-bit devices on the market with advanced memory security features that allow collaborative sharing of memory, interrupts and peripherals on a single chip, without compromising individual intellectual property (IP). This memory segmentation can eliminate the need to store programs on separate chips in a multi-party design.
ACAL Technology and Napier Partnership Ltd works with University students to make Electronics funny!
ACAL Technology, and Napier Partnership Ltd, have co- sponsored the media production course at the University of Chichester. The students were tasked to create fun viral videos incorporating silicon chips and other electronic components in order to promote ACAL Technology. Each video was judged on various criteria, including production quality and the likelihood that it would spread virally, by a panel of judges from ACAL and Napier, and the win...
Melexis integrated MEMs sensors handle more than just pressure
The MLX90807 and MLX90808 fully integrated, relative and absolute pressure sensor die are realized with CMOS technology combined with MEMS bulk micromachining. These monolithic solutions are both fully automotive qualified. Each consists of a silicon membrane with piezoresistors to transform the stress induced by pressure into an electrical signal. An analog signal chain interacting with a digital core, including programmable memory, allows full ...
