Adhesives dispensing expertise shared at FAST Live
To help the industry better tackle the challenges of technology and manufacturing using adhesives and protective materials, Peter Swanson, Managing Director at adhesives specialist Intertronics, ran a seminar at FAST Live. Swanson offered insights into dispensing technology, process validation and the latest positive displacement and jetting technologies.
The benefits of UV curing optical adhesives
Canada Balsam - distilled sap from the balsam tree - was one of the first materials to be used as an optical adhesive. Whilst of high optical quality, its poor thermal and solvent resistance caused it to be superseded during World War II by more robust materials. To meet the production and performance requirements of optics applications, engineers are often turning to UV curing adhesives. Peter Swanson, Managing Director ofIntertronics, explains ...
Making plasma surface treatment portable
To give manufacturers access to high powered, portable plasma treatment,Intertronics has introduced theRelyon Plasmatool. Suitable for a range of processes, substrates and geometries, the portable surface treatment system will help manufacturers in applications where the substrate is difficult to treat because of size or location.
The benefits of UV curing in 3D modelling
Design teams test the aerodynamics of a Formula 1 car by putting a prototype in a wind tunnel. Using a full-size model in the testing process can be expensive and time-consuming, so development engineers often use smaller scale 3D models during testing - but how can they be sure that the prototype will be up to scratch? Simon Gibbs, Product Specialist atIntertronics, explains how design engineers can benefit from UV curing when 3D printing protot...
Growing adhesives firm opens new facility
To deliver better customer service and accommodate further growth,Intertronics has opened a new facility in Kidlington. Inaugurated on 25thFebruary2019, the building provides increased warehouse space to enable next day delivery, an enhanced office area to house its growing team and a new Technology Centre to give customers greater access to Intertronics’ equipment and expertise.
Increasing capability in automated dispensing
To give manufacturers access to the latest in automated liquid dispensing technology, adhesives specialist Intertronics is introducing the next generation of modular Fisnar F4000 ADVANCE series robots. Manufactured by leading supplier of fluid dispensing systems and equipment, Fisnar, the new series comprises the most extensive range of robots in the industry.
A strong bond for manufacturers
Although plasma rarely occurs naturally on Earth, we can still see it in our everyday lives. Lightning, the Northern Lights and the Sun are examples of naturally occurring plasma. Here Peter Swanson, Managing Director of adhesives specialist Intertronics, has explained how manufacturers can use plasma treatment to alter the surface properties of substrates and increase the adherent forces they generate with adhesives and coatings.
Tidy workplace and precise dispensing results
Franklin Electric has faced a difficult challenge when tasked with optimising dispensing processes at their Czech production site. The objective was to reduce the waste of UV curing material during the application process. Dispensing equipment previously used by Franklin Electric had been very inaccurate, creating unnecessary waste, high material costs and additional cleaning efforts.
UV curing expertise to be showcased at FAST Live
Intertronics is exhibiting at the Fastening & Assembly Solutions and Technology (FAST) Live exhibition at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford. At the show Peter Swanson, managing director of Intertronics, will partake in the show’s technical seminar by presenting a talk; Adhesives: the pros and cons of UV light curing using LEDs. The company will also launch its latest handheld LED UV curing spot lamp, the IUV101.
Tin free silicone avoids conflicting chemistries and assembly time
WACKER ELASTOSIL N9111 from Intertronics is a tin-free single part RTV silicone adhesive sealant, with a neutral cure chemistry, producing a non-corrosive seal that does not inhibit other materials such as platinum cure silicones. This, along with its UL94 V-0 rating, makes it a strong candidate for electronics manufacturing, especially for gap filling, component ruggedisation, and form-in-place gasketing. It is stocked in depth at Intertronics f...
