DC/DC controller features a 70ms power-up time
A dual output synchronous step-down DC/DC controller, which features an I²C-based PMBus interface for digital power system management, has been introduced by Linear Technology. The LTC3887 differs from the previously released LTC3880 with an enhanced feature set that includes a faster 70ms power-up time, higher output voltage capability and a fast ADC mode that provides an 8ms update rate for one parameter.
MEMS to innovate inertial measurement market, says report
The market for performance gyroscopes and Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) has changed in recent years, says Yole Développement.Inits latest MEMS & sensors analysis, titledHigh-End Gyroscopes, Accelerometers and IMUs for Defense, Aerospace & Industrial, Yole asserts that defense & aerospace applications drive the market but MEMS innovations are bringing momentum to the commercial aerospace and industrial sectors.
Gauge pressure sensors boast barbed port option
PEWATRON has released Fujikura’s APB2 DIP style series of gauge pressure sensors with a barbed port option. The barbed port design improves the overall mechanical stability of the port/hose system. This is especially important for high pressures applied to the ports. The Fujikura pressure sensors can work up to 12 bars of pressure.
Tiny MEMS microphines provide excellent SNR & low power use
Akustica has expanded the Bosch consumer MEMS sensor portfolio with the addition of two robust, high performance analogue microphones. The AKU151 is a tiny, top-port microphone with both high SNR and high acoustic performance density (SNR/mm3), and the AKU350 is a high performance 67dB SNR bottom-port microphone.
Meet increasingly high current & power demands in networking
The world is becoming increasingly more dependent upon ICT. The development of ever faster broadband, high-speed internet services and applications based on cloud computing architectures has meant increased demand for higher-performance networking, data processing and data storage capabilities. By Patrick Le Fèvre, Marketing and Communication Director, Ericsson Power Modules.
DC/DC controller provides low output voltage ripple
A digital DC/DC controller, suitable for FPGA, ASIC, and POL power in communications and computing applications, has been released by Powervation. Designed for key rails that demand precision output voltage regulation and tight control during transient conditions, the PV3105 digital controller provides low jitter and low output voltage ripple, and improved transient response.
Hardened ASIC platform targets aerospace applications
Designed to simplify the design process of aerospace applications, the ATMX150RHA mixed-signal ASIC platform has been released by Atmel. Manufactured on 150nm Silicon on Insulator, the platform expands the company’s portfolio of radiation-hardened (rad-hard) solutions.Delivering up to 22m routable gates, the ASIC platform features non-volatile memory blocks and a flexible form factor with compiled SRAM and DPRAM blocks.
Micro-mirrors help change human-computer interaction
STMicroelectronics has announced that it has been providing micro-mirrors and control devices for Perceptual Computing initiatives at Intel. In addition to the ASIC control devices, ST supplies a tiny MEMS mirror that moves thousands of times per second to scan an infrared light beam, painting an invisible grid on objects in front of it.
50A encapsulated digital power module is 'industry's first'
A 50A, fully encapsulated digital DC/DC PMBus power module, claimed to be the industry’s first, has been released by Intersil. The ISL8272M is a complete step-down power supply that delivers up to 50A of output current from industry standard 12V or 5V input power rails, and four modules can be combined to support up to 200A rails.
DC/DC converters support LSI requirements of FPGAs & ASICs
A series of step down DC/DC converters, which support the latest LSI requirements for FPGAs and ASICs, has been released by Bellnix. The BSV converters feature a small footprint and a high power density, alongside a high speed load response.
