Transceiver enhances design flexibility with external pin
The STMicroelectronicsSTR485LV3.3V transceiver for RS485applications enhances design flexibility by providing an external pin to select 20Mbps or 250kbps communication and interfacing directly with low voltage logic down to 1.8V.
Image sensors enhance driver and passenger safety
STMicroelectronicshas unveiled two new automotive global shutter image sensors, theVG5661andVG5761, featured for driver monitoring. Both were demonstrated with automotive software innovator Jungo's driver-monitoring solution CoDriver, at the recent AutoSens Imaging conference and at electronica 2018.
User-interface design software added to free development ecosystem
Global semiconductor specialist serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, STMicroelectronics, has reportedly made its STM32 microcontrollers (MCUs) even more attractive to developers of IoT products and other smart devices by providing free software for creating rich, smooth, and colourful graphical interfaces that deliver a great user experience.
Multi-panel GUI for improved developer experience
Setting up STM32 microcontroller (MCU) projects is more intuitive and efficient using STMicroelectronics’ latest release of the STM32CubeMX configuration tool. With its modern multi-panel GUI that lets users visualise and do more without changing screen view, STM32CubeMX v.5.0 makes optimising MCU-configuration parameters easier and more comfortable.
Compact microcontroller cuts power, cost and footprint
TheSTM8L001ultra-low-power microcontroller from STMicroelectronics targets cost-conscious applications, by combining ST’s highly efficient 8-bitSTM8core with essential and effective peripherals, in the compact, low-pin-count SO-8 outline.
Tiny coin-shaped development kit delivers sensor fusion
The core of a new all-in-one IoT-node development kit from STMicroelectronics, is called the BlueNRG-Tile. The very small tile/coin is built around ST’s BlueNRG-2 Bluetooth low energy 5.0 single-mode system-on-chip (SoC) that provides control and processing power to a full complement of sensors, while also communicating via Bluetooth with a free iOS or Android demo app on a nearby smartphone.
Six-Axis IMU added to ultra-low-power MEMS sensors
A new six axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) from STMicroelectronics, the ISM330DLC, has extended STMicroelectronics’ family of ultra-low power MEMS sensors for industrial applications, which combine high accuracy and robustness with long-term availability assured by ST’s ten-year longevity program.
Automotive-grade wireless charging solution
The development of an automotive wireless charging solution with integrated NFC communication has been announced by ROHM. This solution combines ROHM’s automotive-grade (AEC-Q100 qualified) wireless power transmission control IC (BD57121MUF-M) with STMicroelectronics' NFC Reader IC (ST25R3914) and eight-bit microcontroller (STM8A series).
Ultra-low power mode-changing MEMS accelerometer
It has been announced that the STMicroelectronics IIS2DLPC 3-axis MEMS accelerometer can change operating mode on the fly, from ultra-low power to high resolution, enabling high-accuracy measurements within a limited energy budget. The sensor can also reportedly provide continuous contextual awareness to wake the host system when action is required and take accurate measurements before returning to ultra-low power operation.
Development platform helps tighten IoT security
Sequana is a hardware and software platform from Future Electronics for the rapid development of secure, connected and IoT devices. The platform includes a main controller board and a sensor daughterboard for measurement of indoor pollutants, humidity, and visible and infrared light.
