Small size low voltage Hall effect latch
The DRV5011 device from Texas Instruments is a digital-latch Hall effect sensor designed for motors and other rotary systems. The device has an efficient low-voltage architecture that operates from 2.5 to 5.5V. The device is offered in standard SOT-23, and low-profile X2SON and DSBGA packages. The output is a push-pull driver that requires no pullup resistor, enabling more compact systems.
Overcoming EV range anxiety wirelessly
The automotive industry is undergoing one of the biggest periods of change in its history as drivetrains migrate from the internal combustion engine (ICE) to electric motors. While technology development is making great strides in increasing the range of modern electric vehicles (EV), one of the greatest impediments to adoption is consumer concern about being stuck with a flat battery – the so-called ‘range anxiety’.
Sensor-to-cloud platform for intelligent condition monitoring
iCOMOX, the sensor-to-cloud platform for intelligent condition monitoring by Shiratech, is taking centre stage at SPS Drives 2019 in Nuremberg (hall 4A, stand 400). This end-to-end solution is proving a hit with more than 4,000 units of iCOMOX sold to date. The product is a smart predictive-maintenance solution that can boost industrial productivity and enhance safety.
High isolated current sensors with current conductor
LEM has expanded its range of miniature, integrated circuit sensors range for AC and DC isolated-current measurement with the introduction of the HMSR series. Despite their small size, the components can handle overload current bursts of up to 20kA (8-20 us surge test profile), such as those that occur in photovoltaics applications while still providing a reinforced isolation.
Reduce valve monitoring costs with wireless IoT sensors
Factories and plants in industries – such as chemical processing, pulp and paper, water and waste-water treatment, have seen the benefits of remote valve monitoring. Traditional retrofitted monitoring solutions, however, are costly and slow to deploy for factories with thousands of manual valves of different types. By Pertti Kujala, the Director of Smart Factory business of Haltian
Design tactics to manage density
In consumer devices, engineers must factor in EMI and efficiency considerations in buck power converter design, urges Samuel Accardo, field application engineer, Kemet
Power supply can switch to silent
Addressing PC board layout can reduce footprint, EMI and noise. Tony Armstrong, Analog Devices, explains how Silent Switcher architecture can help power designers
Introducing the KMA36 Magnetic Encoder IC
In today’s world, where devices and equipment are being designed smaller and smarter and for applications requiring precise rotary and linear measurement, there is an increased demand for digitization and miniaturisation in sensors. To meet this demand, TE Connectivity (TE) has introduced the KMA36 Magnetic Encoder IC.
Magnetic angle sensor range for vehicle automation
Novotechnik's RFC-4800 series touchless technology angle sensors are well proven for industrial and mobile equipment measurement tasks and are available in the UK fromVariohm EuroSensor.A wide choice of analogue and digital output options as well as fieldbus interfaced versions ensure maximum flexibility for the two-part contactless ´sensor and magnet´ component which offers extreme environmental durability and unparalleled working li...
High-efficiency power inductors for 48V automotive applications
Coilcraft’s new AGM2222 Series power inductors offer current ratings up to 110A and low DCR in a package measuring just 22x22x23mm, a 73% volume reduction from previous-generation products. This significant improvement in power density makes the AGM2222 well suited for high-current applications including automotive bi-directional 12 to 48V DC/DC converters.
