Sub-miniature tact switch for home automation
Manufacturer of electromechanical switches, C&K, has announced the launch of a new sub-miniature PTS815 tact switch aimed at design engineers developing home automation and Internet of Things (IoT) electronic devices. With printed circuit board (PCB) space at a premium within consumer electronics devices, the ultra-compact C&K switch addresses the growing demand for high quality and competitively priced switch solutions for large volume m...
Wind River helps Collins Aerospace future-proof avionics systems
Future airspace will be filled with drones, commercial aircraft, helicopters, and more. Several prototypes are currently targeting urban air mobility solutions such as air taxis, or revolutionary aircraft models, such as next-gen commercial supersonic aircraft. Add to this autonomous swarm technologies, such as manned-unmanned teaming, and systems for future vertical lift and it’s clear that the technology wave coming to any aerospace manuf...
LVDTs offer feedback for monitoring flight parameters of UAVs
Unmanned drones require a variety of sensors to monitor different critical measurements to control flight and maintain aircraft stability. Miniature Linear Position Sensors fromNewTek Sensor Solutionsprovide reliable position feedback for monitoring the fin/rudder position and rotor angle of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with quick response times so UAVs can make adjustments to accurately control flight.
Business models and engineering strategies set to impact robotics
Innovations in robotics was the theme that the recent Hardware Pioneersevent was exclusively devoted to. With these regular gatherings of technology’s movers and shakers now starting to be more spread out - staged in cities across Europe and North America too - the motivation for me to attend one of the London events was markedly intensified. As always, the venue was full and the atmosphere filled with energy. By: Mark Patrick, Mouser Elec...
Wearable Technology Show explores the future for AR and VR
The Wearable Technology show never fails to disappoint and this year was no different, with a new location and lots of new innovating technologies the potential products that left visitors feeling excited for the future. As well as a number of exhibitors, conferences and seminars this year’s show also consisted of an innovation zone that showcased startups from the UK, Canada, Korea, France, Belgium and the US, and a dedicated KTN (knowledge...

The OPTIGA Trust X is based on an advanced security controller built on Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) NIST P256, AES128, and SHA-256, plus built-in tamper-proof nonvolatile memory to greatly enhance overall...
Changing trends in the robotics industry
Machine makers in many established markets sell their machines directly or through dealer networks. At times, they create additional revenue streams by offering technical after-sales support. They often hope that the installed base of their machines together with limited incompatibility with competitors’ products provides some lock-in mechanism.
Wireless MCUs deliver ultra-low-power performance
It has been announced that the STM32WBx5 dual-core wireless microcontrollers (MCU) from STMicroelectronics come with Bluetooth 5, OpenThread, and ZigBee 3.0 connectivity combined with ultra-low-power performance. Fusing features of ST’s STM32L4 Arm Cortex-M4 MCUs and in-house radio managed by a dedicated Cortex-M0+, the STM32WBx5 is power-conscious yet capable of concurrent wireless-protocol and real-time application execution.
‘Game of Drones’ returns to Wales in June
An international drone competition returns to north Wales between 16th-18th June 2019 with Welsh Government backing and a home team competing from Wrexham Glyndwr University.
Technology advances for food delivery in 2019
According to CGA’s Go Technology report, 28% of British consumers are now ordering more food online than a year ago. Half of food deliveries are ordered by millennials and 44% of grub ordered is purchased via online channels. Sixty one percent of frequent delivery consumers think the quality of the food they receive is better than, or the same as, food served in a restaurant.
