Smart-antenna controller cuts board space
A new digital controller from STMicroelectronics, the STHVDAC-253C7, is for tunable capacitors such as ST’s STPTIC family, and shrinks the size, bill of materials (BoM), and power consumption of antenna-tuning circuits for stabilising smartphone RF performance. Using the STHVDAC-253C7 with STPTIC capacitors for impedance matching and frequency tuning almost completely eliminates the effects of environmental variations.
MOSFETs bring performance to bridge and ZVS converters
STMicroelectronics’ MDmesh DM6 600V MOSFETs contain a fast-recovery body diode to bring the performance advantages of the company’s latest super-junction technology to full- and half-bridge topologies, Zero-Voltage Switching (ZVS) phase-shift converters, and applications and topologies generally that need a robust diode to handle dynamic dV/dt.
NFC Reader IC adopted for automotive wireless charging design
STMicroelectronics hasannounced that its automotive NFC Reader IC (ST25R3914) and its automotive 8-bit microcontroller (STM8AF) have been chosen for the Qi-compliant automotive wireless charging reference design from Rohm. Contactless communication based on NFC is already in extensive use for functions such as mobile payment by smartphone and in recent years, NFC use has been rapidly widening from mobile devices to industrial equipment, IoT devic...
Enabling creatively connected smart devices
By supporting concurrent communication over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Sub-1GHz wireless, the STMicroelectronics STEVAL-FKI001V1 dual-radio development kit gives high flexibility to envision, build and connect IoT devices, such as smart sensors, finders and trackers which can be configured, updated, remotely monitored and tracked using various network topologies, protocols and services.
Latest solutions for smart driving displayed at AUTOMOTIVE WORLD
STMicroelectronics displayed its latest semiconductor solutions for smart driving at the 11thedition of the AUTOMOTIVE WORLD show in Tokyo, Japan. Building upon its broad range of automotive semiconductors, ST exhibited solutions that accelerate car digitalisation and electrification in autonomous driving, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and power control for electric and hybrid electric vehicles (EV/HEV).
Embedded devices neural-network developer toolbox
Leveraging the position of its STM32 family of microcontrollers, STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor provider, has extended the associated STM32CubeMX ecosystem for product developers, adding advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) features.
Low power MCU features analogue and DMA in low cost package
STMicroelectronics is boosting feature integration in low cost, low power 8-bit microcontrollers (MCUs) with the newSTM8L050. As the latest in the ultra energy-consciousSTM8Lseries, it embeds rich analogue peripherals, a DMA controller, and separated data EEPROM, all in an inexpensive SO-8 package with up to six user I/Os.
Security certification for IoT announced at embedded world
To support widespread deployment of secure IoT solutions based on its Platform Security Architecture (PSA) framework, Arm and its independent security testing lab partners Brightsight, CAICT, Riscure and UL, along with consultants Prove&Run, have announced PSA Certified. At this week’s embedded world exhibition, Electronic Specifier Editor, Joe Bush, caught up with David Maidment, Director, Secure Devices Ecosystem at Arm, to find out m...
Space-vector modulation adapted for 8-bit MCU
SPINnaker is a motor control daughter board from Future Electronics for low cost SPACE-Vector-Modulation build for the STMicroelectronics Nucleo-8S208RB kit, a development platform for the STM8S series of low-cost 8-bit microcontrollers board. It is being debuted and demonstrated at embedded world 2019 in Nuremberg (February 26-28).
MACOM, STMicro extend GaN-on-Silicon production pact
The impending roll out of 5G services has prompted MACOM and STMicroelectronics to extend their agreement on 150mm GaN-on-Silicon production capacity in ST’s fabs, along with a shift to 200mm as demand requires. This builds upon the broad GaN-on-Silicon agreement between MACOM and ST announced in early 2018.
