Networking capabilities for brushless DC motors
Offering greater motion control and automation integration, Crouzet Motors has announced the availability of CANopen technology for its brushless DC motors. The new communications protocol offering allows design engineers to connect multiple Crouzet brushless motors to the various components in their system, reducing wiring and installation costs while at the same time increasing system communications and integrity.
Coatings alter the surface properties of metal
A company that began with an experiment on lawn mower blades has become a national leader in high-temperature coatings that alter the surface properties of metal.
Fast construction of biogas plants is more important than ever
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has announced a consultation period on proposed changes to the feed-In tariff accreditation. The consultation is relatively short and runs up to the 19th August. For the biogas industry this is likely to mean the abolition of pre-accreditation. This makes it possible in the future to lower the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) during the development phase of anaerobic digestion projects up to 5mW capacity.
Hi-rel interconnects cope with harsh environments
The high-reliability, lightweight TE DEUTSCH 369 Series interconnects from TE Connectivity withstand vibration, are fully sealed and suit aerospace and other harsh environment applications. The Series is based on the successful Deutsch ARINC 809/EN4165 single module connector and is BACC qualified.
Aluminium electronic enclosures offer added security
Featuring a hidden mounting bracket for swift installation and added security, the aluSMART aluminium enclosure range has been introduced by ROLEC. Similar to ROLEC’s tried and trusted aluCLIC range (which has click-to-fit mounting), the new range offers the added strength of the concealed screw-in bracket.
BEI’s new Hall Effect rotary position sensor suits extreme environments
The recently launched 9970 series Hall Effect rotary position sensor from BEI Sensors builds on a wide range of non-contacting sensors that are designed to provide long-life and high reliability in harsh and challenging environments. Available in the UK from Variohm EuroSensor, the 6 mm shaft-driven sensor features a choice of 0 - 5 V ratiometric or 4…20 mA output with 2-bit resolution and electrical angle ranges from 30⁰ (+/- 15⁰) up ...
NFC technology enables the world's first smart wine bottle
Thin Film Electronics ASA (Thinfilm) has announced a partnership with the G World Group (G World), a global authentication company specialising in transparency and accountability solutions. The partnership will unveil the industry’s first smart wine bottle built using printed electronics technology at GSMA’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2015.
Heason Technology build EtherCAT controlled hexapod demonstration rig
Heason Technology demonstrates its capability for mechatronic design and build with an EtherCAT controlled 6-axis hexapod (parallel robot) demonstration rig that comprises mechanical, electronic and software components from several of its distribution partners. The rig actually uses two hexapods – a large servo-electric actuator driven unit that can run pre-programmed motion sequences or can be configured to mirror the movement of a smaller...
Angle sensing for extreme environments
Further expanding Variohm EuroSensor’s range of precision positon sensors, the new RSX-7900 angle sensor from German manufacturer Novotechnik provides IP69K protection, extremely long life and ISO13849 PL-d safety compliance in a very robust non-contacting design that suits continuous duty in mobile construction and agricultural machinery, and other extreme environment applications.
