3.0 flash drives launched
Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched a range of entry-level USB 3.0 flash drives which meet consumer needs for storing music and video content and transferring data between digital products.
Changing the rules for LEDs
GaN and Silicon really shouldn’t go together but several companies are making it work in order to reap the cost benefits, as Sally Ward-Foxton reports.
Audio power amplifier warns of EV approach
Drivers of electric and hybrid vehicles need no longer worry about pedestrians stepping out in front of their cars because they can’t hear them coming. Toshiba has developed a single chip audio power amplifier that adds the sound of a conventional internal combustion engine to electric and hybrid electric vehicles to ensure a minimum level of sound.
Giant battery to help tackle energy storage challenges
The UK’s first two megawatt (MW) lithium titanate battery is to be connected to the grid later this year, as part of new research to tackle the challenges of industrial-scale energy storage. The project – led by the University of Sheffield and – aims to test the technological and economic challenges of using large scale batteries to provide support to the grid.
5TB, 7200rpm HDD for cloud computing applications
Designed for bulk storage systems and servers supporting cloud-based applications and analytic workloads, Toshiba Electronics Europe has introduced the MC04ACAxxx series of enterprise high-capacity hard disk drives (HDDs). With a 3.5" form factor, up to 5TB of storage and 7,200 rotations per minute (RPM) performance, the series are suitable for workloads and storage requirements generated by cloud computing.
40V Trench-MOSFETs deliver 0.7mΩ typical RDS(ON)
Based on the company’s next generation U-MOS IX-H semiconductor process, Toshiba has introduced its latest family of low-voltage, ultra-efficiency Trench-MOSFETs. According to the manufacturer, these MOSFETs deliver industry leading RDS(ON)*QOSS (on resistance to output charge product) figure of merit for this class of devices.
Processor can recognise lanes, road signs & vehicles
The introduction of theTMPV7502XBG signals an expansion ofToshiba Electronics Europe's line ofTMPV750 image recognition processors. Designedfor small-size camera modules, the devicecan be used in ADAS that recognise lanes, road signs, vehicles and pedestrians from images collected by cameras positioned around the car and in electronic side mirrors.
PCIM 2014: Smart gate driver photocoupler monitors IGBT modules
Delivering the ability to monitor IGBT modules to prevent problems rather than react to an incident is a theme at this year’s PCIM exhibition in Nuremberg. Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) contribution to meet this demand is a smart gate driver photocoupler with 4A (max) output current housed in a thin SO16L package for use in driving medium-power IGBTs and power MOSFETs.
PCIM 2014: MOSFET family moves up to 650V rating
Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has expanded its family of high-efficiency and compact super junction MOSFETs with devices offering voltage ratings to 650V. The new 650V MOSFETs are ideal for applications that may have to operate in environments with fluctuating mains supplies or very low temperatures.
4TB hard disk drives for surveillance applications
Available in capacities up to 4TB (Terabyte), Toshiba Electronics Europe has introduced the MD03ACA-V series high-capacity hard disk drive (HDD) for surveillance applications. The robust design of the HDD provides storage to various video recorders including surveillance digital video recorders (SDVR), surveillance network video recorders (SNVR) and Hybrid SDVR.
