Power-module miniaturisation with high-temperature rectifiers
The industry’s first 800V surface-mount Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCR, or thyristor) specified for operation at temperatures up to 150°C without derating, giving freedom to miniaturise power modules for applications that demand high reliability in harsh conditions has been introduced by STMicroelectronics.
Compact high-voltage drive transistor arrays
A series of next-generation output transistor arrays that feature a DMOS FET type sink output has been announced by Toshiba Electronics Europe. The TBD62183AFNG and TBD62183AFWG are ideal for level shift applications and for directly controlling photocouplers, LEDs, and relays that require high-voltage input signals.
Technological success with digital electrical network
An electricity distribution network has become a completely digital network in terms of telecommunications, in Toulouse for the first time, with the injection of a 3rd-generation power-line carrier (G3-PLC) on the low- and medium- voltage networks. The telecom signal, tested on a circuit totalling 35km, is capable of travelling more than 10km with the most demanding emission levels and the greatest level of sturdiness.
