Miniature TCXO enables low power
Housed in an ultra-miniature 2.0x1.6x0.8mm hermetically sealed ceramic package, IQD's IQXT-270 series of TCXOs (Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillators), employs an analogue ASIC for the oscillator and a high order temperature compensation circuit. With a maximum current consumption of only 2.2mA, the IQXT-270 offers stabilities down to ±0.5ppm over an operating temperature range of -40 to 85°C with a clipped sinewave output.
IoT lighting controlled by a simple light switch
Gooee has partnered with EnOcean to integrate BLE based self-powered wall switch modules into the Bluetooth Smart Mesh stack, the primary communication protocol in Gooee’s enterprise IoT ecosystem. The collaboration will result in the first EnOcean-powered wall switch device integrated into the Bluetooth Smart Mesh protocol, the next evolution of the low power communication protocol that becomes available at the end of 2016.
PoL modules boost density and efficiency
Factorized Power Architecture modules from Vicor enable 48V Direct-to-PoL operation to power CPUs, GPUs, ASICs and DDR memories from a 48V distribution bus.
EtherCAT node integrated onto MCU platform
The world’s first EtherCAT node integrated on a standard ARM Cortex-M microcontroller, the new Infineon XMC4800 is in stock at distributor RS Components. It eases implementation of EtherCAT connectivity and saves PCB space usually occupied by a separate EtherCAT ASIC and its associated memory IC and oscillator crystal.
The industry’s first complete UVM SystemVerilog VIP library
Mentor Graphics has announced the first entirely native UVM SystemVerilog memory VIP (Verification IP) library for all commonly used memory devices, configurations and interfaces. Mentor is adding more than 1,600 memory models to the Mentor VIP library that already supports over 60 commonly used peripheral interfaces and bus architectures.
Playing it safe
Steve Rogerson looks at the effects of automotive functional safety standard ISO26262 at component level. The arrival of the ISO26262 functional safety standard for automotive is causing headaches not just for the car manufacturers and their tier one suppliers, but right the way down the supply chain.
Reducing power and simplifying design
A new integrated power stage family from Infineon Technologies features a power efficiency rating reaching 96%. This means the power stage devices can be combined with Infineon’s generation digital PWM power management controllers. This provides a full multi-phase voltage regulation (VR) system solution for server, storage client and communications systems.
Digital hybrid PWM controllers are PMBus compatible
Offering PoL conversions for FPGAs, DSPs, ASICs, processors and general purpose system rails, Intersil has launched two digital hybrid DC/DC controllers. The ISL68200 with integrated MOSFET drivers and ISL68201 with PWM output simplify power supply designs for data centre routers, servers and storage, as well as wireless infrastructure equipment.
Live demonstrations to help accelerate data centre development
It has been announced that live demonstrations of Broadcom’s PAM-4 PHY chips, driving copper cables designed for 40GbE, 100GbE and 200GbE data centre interconnects, will be taking place in the Broadcom booth 1264 at the Optical Fiber Communication (OFC) 2016 exhibition in Anaheim, California from 22nd to 24th March.
Digitally controlled PoL converters are PMBus compatible
Expanding its Okami series of non-isolated PoL DC/DC converters, Murata Power Solutions has announced a range of digitally controlled OKDL products. The OKDL-T/6-W12, OKDL-T/12-W12 and OKDL-T/18-W12, delivering 6, 12 and 18A respectively, are capable of being monitored and configured via PMBus communications.
