Arduino, Beaglebone and Freescale Freedom enclosures
Hammond Electronics has today introduced a new series of design-specific moulded enclosures supporting the new types of credit card sized, low cost bare board computers, which, typically running Linux, provide basic functionality across a wide range of applications. While broadly similar in size and shape, each enclosure features differences in the positioning of I/O, power and expansion ports.
Arduino Robot Video Tutorial 4: Following lines, going to the rescue
In this video the IR-array sensor at the bottom of the motor board is used to get the robot to follow a line. The Arduino Robot comes with five infrared sensors that enable it to measure the reflection of infrared light and detect the different qualities of the material underneath.
Expansion board boost for Raspberry Pi
element14 has announced global availability of the Gertduino expansion board for the Raspberry Pi computer. Gertduino is an Arduino-Uno like board that was created by Gert van Loo, the inventor of the Gertboard. Gertduino is Arduino compatible and plugs directly onto the Raspberry Pi.
Arduino Robot Video Tutorial 3: Avoid obstacles, create strategies
In this video the Arduino team will explore how to use different technologies to detect obstacles in the way of the Arduino Robot. The three technologies being tested are: ultrasonic range finders, infrared range finders and a trick using ultrabright white LEDs and LDR sensors.
Arduino is in bloom
Since it was announced back in September 2011, interest has been growing for the Arduino platform. Renesas has now entered this arena with one of the fastest Arduino compatible boards – The GR-Sakura – based on an RX63N 32-bit microcontroller operating at 100MHz. Ian Hall, Principal Engineer with the MCU&Tools Group, Industrial & Communications Business Group, at Renesas, explores more in this ES Design magazine article.
Galileo board ready to order at Mouser
Mouser Electronics is now taking pre-orders for Intel’s Galileo Development Board, based on the Intel Quark Application Processor. The board is based on the Intel Quark SoC X1000 Processor, a 32-bit Intel Pentium-class system on a chip (SoC). It is the first product in a new family of Arduino certified boards featuring Intel architecture.
Arduino Robot Video Tutorial 2: LOGO and remote control your Robot
In this video you will see where to find code examples on the IDE. The first one, LOGO, invites users to interact with the Arduino Robot using the keypad to tell it whether to move forwards/backwards or turn left/right. Users will have to configure the robot's movement using the Calibration example.
Sitara AM335x processor powers newest Arduino board
Texas Instruments has today announced that the Sitara AM335x ARM Cortex-A8 processor has been selected to power the newest Arduino board, the Arduino TRE. TI’s 1 GHz Sitara AM335x processor offers up to 100x more performance on the Arduino TRE, compared to the Arduino Leonardo or Uno.
Arduino Robot Video Tutorial 1: introduction to Arduino Robot
In this video you will see how to unbox the Arduino Robot and mount it, and how to use the Arduino IDE to program the robot. After an introduction by Massimo Banzi, David Cuartielles, assisted by Xun Yang, explains how the robot can be used to make learning about electronics and mechanics easy.
Building robots with Farnell element14
From automobile assembly and PCB fabrication, to consumer electronics, robotics is home to some of the most exciting engineering taking place today. Learning about robotics, whether you are an experienced engineer or complete beginner, has never been easier thanks to the application notes, software examples and tutorials available online today. Mike Powell, Technical Development Manager for Farnell element14, explores further in this ES Desdign m...
