1 JULY 2010 - FESPA retrospective: HEXIS goes green
At this year's FESPA show in Munich, the French vinyl manufacturer Hexis launched an all-new cast Latex digital printing film and gloss laminate destined for vehicle wrapping applications. Both films are PVC-free and do not contain any solvents, plasticisers or heavy metals. The compound is flexible and conformable enough to be suitable for car wraps and in general applications that demand a conformable film.
Going Green with Rittal Liquid Cooling
With over 50% of Data Centre energy being consumed by the cooling of technology, improving the efficiency of Data Centres has now become a key priority. Rittal offer liquid cooling packages (LCP), which not only solve the high density heat issues up to 70kW, but can also improve the cooling efficiencies of the Data Centre with the added benefit of reducing cooling energy costs. It is estimated that with the use of LCP it is possible to use 100% f...
Rectifiers Provide Green Solution to Contaminated PCB Etchant Solution
Powerstax plc announces the availability of a range of DC Rectifiers for use in the etching process of printed circuit boards. Manufactured in the UK by DP Energy the rectifiers are built to exacting industry-standard specifications for the process of removing the Amonical or cupric (copper) from the solution used to etch PCB’s. This process enables the etchant solution to be re-used saving material costs and providing an ecologically sound...
Yokogawa releases HXS10 controller for solar tracking applications
Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the release of the HXS10 controller, a new product that controls the actuation systems that move heliostats (reflectors) and photovoltaic panels. The HXS10 helps to maximise power generating efficiency by controlling the angles of heliostats and solar panels so that they stay pointed at the sun as it moves across the sky.
Mini-Clamp II Connectors new from 3M
Diversified technology company 3M has announced three new additions to the Mini-Clamp family of connector products: the Mini-Clamp II Wiremount Plug 371 Series, Boardmount Socket 372 series and Wiremount Socket 373 Series.
Active Chilled Beam Cooling Reduces Energy Usage 20% in Northwestern Lab
An active chilled beam cooling system played a key role in delivering an expected 20% reduction in cooling and ventilation energy consumption at the new Genomic Science Building at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The system was developed by Affiliated Engineers, Inc. in collaboration with the project architect, Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill LLP. Engineers at Affiliated Engineers, Inc. used Flomerics’ Flovent com...
Breezair provides JCB transmissions with a green solution to high factory temperatures
The combination of CoSaf Environments technical know-how and Seeley International Europe’s Breezair Evaporative Cooling has provided JCB Transmissions with the solution to a very sticky problem. By specifying six Breezair TBA coolers, CoSaf Environments has reduced temperatures in the company’s Gearbox Plant by over 10°C.
Danfoss Announces Major Expansion in Illinois
Danfoss is doubling its Loves Park, IL, facility that produces variable frequency drives, adding both production and office space. Continued domestic and global growth for Danfoss Drives necessitates the expansion in order to accommodate the additional equipment and personnel required to meet increasing demand. After expansion, the entire facility will be LEED-certified and registered with the US Green Building Council. The LEED (Leadership in...
