Gateway solution opens way to Internet of Things
Intel’s DK50 Series Gateway Solution for the Internet of Things (IoT) is now available at Mouser Electronics. It uses the Intel Galileo Arduino‑certified development board which is based on the Intel Quark SoC X1000 processor. The solution provides internet connectivity for devices that do not directly support internet connectivity.
Software tools & Arduino libraries support EVE ICs
Designed to support engineers using the FT800 and FT801Embedded Video Engine (EVE) graphic controller ICs, FTDI Chip has announced supply a comprehensive suite of additional support facilities. This support includes a behaviour modelling software tool, a development module, a Windows-based software tool and a set of Arduino libraries.
Programmable power design tool updated with Arduino
The latest version of the company's intuitive programmable power design tool, PowerArchitect 5.1 has been released by Exar. This updated version now supports the XRP7720 and XRP7725 programmable power ICs, the XRP9710 and XRP9711 power modules andthe latest universal PMICs and development boards. It also adds time saving features to simplify and accelerate power system programming.
Development board targets USB applications
A new development board featuring a Freescale Kinetis K next-generation microcontroller and crystal-less USB controller is now available from Farnell element14. The Freescale Freedom FRDM-K22F is targeted at USB applications that require a high level of integration and the lower-power capabilities of the new generation of ARM Cortex-M4 core; @120MHz with Floating Point Unit and embeds 512KB Flash and 128KB RAM in a LQFP64 package.

Development boards ease connectivity to Raspberry Pi projects
RS Components is now taking orders for the new SparqEE development boards, which have been designed to enable easy cellular connectivity and Internet access for projects based on the Raspberry Pi and Arduino platforms. A total of seven new SparqEE boards are available to order exclusively from RS, including the CELLv1.0 – a tiny cellular development board that implements a 2G+3G chipset to provide wireless worldwide.
Creating the right feedback
The factors that need to be considered when selecting a touch solution, and how haptic feedback may be changing the user interface. By Tom Houston, Aito.
Software streamlines touch panel development
Designed to streamline the creation of “user experience” (UX) designs for physical user interfaces based on SEP touch technology, the UX Design Studio development tool has been released by Aito. The software is aimed at both product designers, concerned with the operation and response of touch controls, and the embedded hardware and software engineers who will implement the design.
Evaluation kit aids touch sensitive designs
Future Electronics has added to the development boards on its FTM Board Club website. The latest offering is the capacitive sensing evaluation kit from Cypress Semiconductor now available free to design engineers. The CY3280-MBR3 CapSense MBR3 Evaluation Kit helps designers to evaluate the third generation of Cypress Semiconductor’s capacitive-sensing technology. It can be used to develop CapSense button designs, and to implement proximity s...
