European electronic components market continues to grow
That the European electronic components DTAM (distributor total available market) is continuing to grow, has been reported by Adam Fletcher, Chairman of IDEA (International Distributors of Electronics Association). Consolidated returns from the association’s member companies average Billings (sales revenue invoiced, less credits) grew by seven percent in Q3 2018.
New 3/4 pin 1.5A adjustable positive voltage regulator
The LM317 device is an adjustable three-terminal positive-voltage regulator capable of supplying more than 1.5A over an output-voltage range of 1.25-37V.It requires only two external resistors to set the output voltage. The device features a typical line regulation of 0.01% and typical load regulation of 0.1%.
Vishay reveals technology slate for electronica
Vishay Intertechnology has announced its technology lineup for electronica 2018 in Munich (November 13-16). In its main booth C4.421-422 and Automotive Innovation booth B4.W07-W10 — both new locations for the company this year — the company will be exhibiting its latest passive and semiconductor component, optoelectronic, and sensor technologies for a wide range of applications.
Low profile power resistors are UL recognised
A series of ultra-low profile high power resistors has been introduced by TT Electronics. The WDBR-UL resistors are based on the existing WDBR product which has been successfully used in the field for over ten years. The WDBR-UL series’ creepage, clearances and power ratings have been assessed in accordance with the requirements of UL508, easing the compliance burden for UL approved end users.
Octavo introduces a Complete 1GHz Computer in a 27 mm Package
Octavo Systems announced the most completely integrated 1GHz Arm Cortex-A8 computing platform, the OSD335x C-SiP. The OSD335x C-SiP integrates the required components for a computing system into a single IC package that is about the size of a standard Lego block. The newest addition to the OSD335x family, the OSD335x C-SiP is a complete system containing the 1GHz Arm Cortex-A8 Sitara AM335x processor from Texas Instruments, up to 1GB of DDR3 RAM,...
PXI modules head out to ITC 2018 in Phoenix
Pickering Switching Solutions, including Pickering Interfaces and Pickering Electronics will exhibit at the International Test Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. The company will showcase its latest high-density PXI and Ethernet LXI Switching & Simulation Solutions along with Signal Routing Software, its 6U Modular Chassis and the world’s smallest reed relays.
Current sense resistors come in 2- and 4-terminal options
The CSS series high power current sense resistors from Bourns that come in both 2-terminal and 4-terminal options can now be sourced in Europe through TTI. The 2-terminal models are available in three different footprint sizes: 5930, 3920 and 2512 (6332 Metric). With resistance values as low as 0.2mΩ, each family will have a range of low resistance options and power ratings of up to 15W.
Solid growth continues in the electronic components markets
Sales revenues across electronic component markets in the UK, Europe and most international countries are continuing to demonstrate solid growth. Economists are putting the current situation down to 'all boats rising with the tide' brought about by the exponential pervasiveness of tech-based goods in our daily lives. In this article Adam Fletcher, Chairman of the ecsn provides an insight into the sector’s latest economic data and advises or...
The braking resistors that will not break
One of the most popular works of Renaissance sculpture is Michelangelo’s David, a piece that has become synonymous with human strength and beauty. Despite its seemingly perfect proportions, a basic design flaw of the statue has recently been brought to light. Recurring micro-fractures in the ankles might cause the statue to collapse under its own weight. Author: David Atkins, Projects Director at Cressall Resistors
Compact GaN driver cuts power supply size by up to 80%
The LMG1020 gallium nitride (GaN) driver from Texas Instruments is available from Mouser Electronics. The single, low-side driver enables efficient, high-performance designs in speed-critical applications such as LiDAR, time-of-flight laser drivers, facial recognition, augmented reality, and class E wireless chargers.
