High power thick film chip resistors deliver TCR characteristics
ROHM has recently announced the availability of a new lineup of high power wide terminal thick-film chip resistors (10-910mΩ) suitable for current detection in a variety of applications, including inverters, AC, and energy-efficient appliances.
WW UL94V-0 compliant wirewounds offer wide range of tolerances
The WW Series high temperature silicone coated wirewound resistors meet UL94V-0 flammability requirements. The all welded WW is available in power ratings from 0.5 up to 11W and tolerances from five to 0.1%. Typical TCR for the WW series ranges from 90 ppm or better for resistance values below one ohm to 20ppm or better for values above ten ohms.
Driving forward the vehicles of tomorrow
Electronic systems constituted as little as one percent of the total value in the cars of the past. Now, increased technological capabilities and consumer demand for more technology in vehicles have caused a surge in the number of electronic control units (ECUs) in a vehicle. A highly engineered automobile may contain as many as 100 ECUs and up to 100 million lines of code - a far cry of the vehicles of the past and a testament to how important E...
Anti-surge resistor features pulse handling performance
The RPC Series from Stackpole is an anti-surge chip resistor with superior pulse handling performance compared to standard thick film chips. Stackpole has recently added an 0402 chip size rated at 0.2W and featuring values from 1Ω to 1M in tolerances as low as ±0.5% and TCR as low as ±100ppm.
Buck-boost converter shielding enhances thermal performance
Packaged as a 25-pad LGA with 6-sided shielding, the RECOM RBB10 buck-boost converter, now available from Dengrove Electronic Components, is ideal for equipment such as USB voltage regenerators, 3.3V-to-5V converters, and supercapacitor or Li-Ion battery regulators.
Q3 2018 distribution round-up
In 2018 everything has been hunky dory for component distribution. “Phenomenal,” exclaimed Dave Doherty, President and COO of Digi-Key Electronics. “The best in 20 years on a broad-based demand.”
Smaller and faster – the WARR Hyperloop team wins again
Sensors, resistors and relays from Panasonic have contributed to a smaller, faster Hyperloop pod designed by a team of students from Technical University in Munich (TUM) that was celebrating its third consecutive win in the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod competition.
From idea to real prototype in a fast, flexible and lean way
The automotive industry request sensor prototypes to test new algorithms and application possibilities in the early stage of their design. For this reason, Infineon developed a new methodology, allowing a smooth transition from idea to implementation. By Simone Fontanesi, Gaetono Formato, Andrea Monterastelli, Infineon Technologies
Current sense chips extend values for 0603 and 0805 sizes
Stackpole’s ultra precision current sensing chip resistors, the CSS Series, offers precision tolerances as tight as 0.5% and TCR as low as 15ppm. Recently, Stackpole extended the value range for the 0603 size adding a 4mΩ value and the 0805 size adding a 3mΩ value.
Encoder output choices for best performance and signal integrity
Motion control applications typically require one or more position encoders. Several types are available and the engineer must first decide whether an incremental, absolute, or commutation encoder is most appropriate. After this decision has been made, other selection criteria include resolution and mechanical aspects, such as the mounting pattern and motor shaft size.
