Integrated GaAs technology enables single chip GaAs solutions for 5G
Pure-play compound semiconductor foundry, WIN Semiconductors, has announced the commercial release of its high integration mmWave GaAs platform, PIH1-10. Optimised for 5G front-ends, the PIH1-10 technology combines an advanced 100GHz ƒt enhancement-mode pHEMT with monolithic PIN and Schottky diodes to provide best in class mmWave performance for all front-end functions.
Production facility for detectors in the USA
It has been announced that LASER COMPONENTS has begun laying the foundations for the future with the building of its new production facility for detectors. At the end of April, the ceremonial setting of the cornerstone for the new 26,000 ft² building took place in Chandler, Arizona.
Sulfur-resistant fixed resistor series
Bourns has announced a new sulfur-resistant AEC-Q200 compliant thick film resistor family. The Bourns Model CRxxxxA-AS chip resistor series is offered in eight different footprints from small 0201 (0603 metric) to 2512 (6432 metric) with rated power from 0.05 to 1W.
Rad-hard 16-channel current driver with integrated decoder
Supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, Renesas Electronics, has announced a new radiation-hardened 16-channel current driver with integrated four-bit decoder for reducing the size, weight and power (SWaP) of satellite command and telemetry systems. The ISL72814SEH integrates the decoder, input level shifter, and 16 current driver arrays in a single monolithic IC.
Micromachining helps guide light into new markets
When you think of optical semiconductors, silicon is probably not the first material that springs to mind. The lack of a direct bandgap makes silicon a poor choice for applications such as light emitting diodes (LEDs). However, silicon has a number of useful properties that, in combination with micromachining, can make it a highly effective medium for steering light and processing with it. Who and what was worth seeing at PCIM 2019?
Power is always an interesting topic as it is a necessity in life, but after visiting my first ever PCIM show this week it has opened my eyes as to how big the automotive power sector is, and how much it is expected to grow.Of course the big players in the automotive industry continue to innovate, but PCIM this year saw more companies starting to become involved in automotive power, whereas before they stuck to the more energy and industrial side...
Single shunt motor controller saves time and space
STMicroelectronics has expanded its STSPIN32 programmable motor controller family with theSTSPIN32F0BSystem-in-Package (SiP) for cost effective one-shunt current sensing. The new motor controller is a suitable all-in-one solution for the growing market of battery-operated power tools.
Half-duplex transceivers with integrated surge protection
The THVD1419 and THVD1429 from Texas Instruments are half-duplex RS-485 transceivers with integrated surge protection. Surge protection is achieved by integrating transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diodes in the standard 8-pin SOIC (D) package.
Family of high-power single-mode diode lasers
It has been announced that LASER COMPONENTS is distributing a new family of high-power, single-mode laser diodes by Sheaumann Laser in three millimetre (C3), four millimetre (C4), and six millimetre (C6) chip-on-submount lengths. The C6 provides up to 650mW average output power at 1064nm. The 980nm C3 and 785nm C4 reach an average of 500mW and 450mW, respectively.
Automotive-compliant fast dimming linear LED controller
Global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality products within the broad discrete, logic, analog and mixed-signal semiconductor markets, Diodes Incorporated, has the availability of the AL5816Q, an automotive-compliant linear LED controller for Automotive LED lighting.
