Available with either dual- and quad-core processors, the MB-83210 supports a variety of mobile and remote applications such as thin-clients, wireless network devices, digital media appliances and STBs, with onboard display capabilities that include four DP ++ display interfaces with 4K resolution.
Modified standard supports high-resolution cameras
SGET (Standardization Group for Embedded Technologies) has released an addendum to the 2.0 version of the Qseven standard. The standard, originally developed by the Qseven consortium in 2007, was adopted by SGET in 2012. The addendum specifies how a MIPI-CSI2 compatible camera can be connected to a Qseven module via a standard feature connector to enable cost-optimised high-resolution camera systems.
TSV’s added-value is important, says Yole
According to Yole Développement, 3D TSV integration has already been adopted in MEMS and CMOS Image Sensors for consumer applications. Device makers such as Sony, Toshiba, Omnivision, Samsung, Bosch Sensortec, STMicroelectronics and mCube have all brought devices to the market that integrate 3D TSV technology.
SBC development platform runs on Windows and Linux
Farnell element14 today announced availability of the Gizmo 2 DIY developer platform from GizmoSphere, a non-profit development board community. Built on the award-winning AMD Embedded G-Series SoC, Gizmo 2 is a second-generation open source x86-based single board computer (SBC) with 85 GFLOPS performance, providing the power of a high-performance computer and the I/O capabilities of a microcontroller.
ARM's MCU architecture to dominate IoT market, says Semicast
The Semicast study 'Opportunities for ARM in Embedded Processing' suggests that shipments for ARM in IoT applications are set to grow to about 12bn units in 2018, from fewer than 3bn in 2010 and under 1bn in 2006. Units for ARM-based MCUs in IoT applications are forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 32% from 2010 to 2018, compared with 11% for ARM-based SoCs.
