Essential questions when designing an enclosure
The power resistor manufacturer, Cressall, has released an informative infographic explaining the essential questions to ask when designing an enclosure. The guide aims to support design engineers as well as resistor end users across all industries to understand the requirements of their power resistor enclosure.
Compact displays for quick assembly
Featuring external dimensions of just 40x20mm, the EA DIPS082 fits into 19" rack systems with one height unit (1U). For efficiency in assembly, the compact EA DIPS082 dot matrix panel including pins with a grid of 2.54mm is soldered directly into the circuit board or plugged into a socket.
Quad channel output current sense amplifier
The INA180, INA2180, and INA4180 (INAx180) current sense amplifiers from Texas Instruments are designed for cost-optimised applications. These devices are part of a family of current-sense amplifiers (also called current-shunt monitors) that sense voltage drops across current-sense resistors at common-mode voltages from -0.2 to +26V, independent of the supply voltage.
Shunt resistors enhance corrosion protection
The WSBS5216 and WSBS5216...14 12 W Power Metal Strip battery shunt resistors from Vishay Technology come in the compact 5216 case size. With extremely low resistance of 100µΩ, the Vishay Dale AEC-Q200 qualified devices increase accuracy and lower costs compared with Hall Effect current sensing solutions, while the optional Sn terminal plating of the WSBS5216...14 assists with PCB mounting and provides improved corrosion protection.
Array of power talent set for APEC 2019 in Anaheim
Power IC, passive component, diode, and MOSFET technologies for a wide range of applications will all be showcased by Vishay Technology at the Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exhibition (APEC) in Anaheim (March 17-21). Vishay Siliconix power ICs on display at APEC 2019 will include the SiC9xx microBRICK family of high efficiency DC/DC buck regulators.
Current sense resistors are fully AEC-Q200 compliant
Now available in Europe through TTI are CSS series high power current sense resistors from Bourns. The devices come in both 2-terminal and 4-terminal versions. The 2-terminal models are available in three different footprint sizes: 5930, 3920 and 2512 (6332 Metric).
Automotive grade current sensor IC improves safety
Allegro MicroSystems has announced a new family of automotive AEC-Q100 qualified, monolithic Hall effect current sensor ICs. Small and energy efficient, the ACS71240 family is suitable for electric vehicle chargers, DC/DC converters, as well as industrial motor and IOT applications.
USB-C with power delivery makes universal adapters a reality
Cypress has introduced a USB-C Power Delivery solution designed to reduce the e-waste resulting from the estimated one million tons of power adapters produced per year1. The EZ-PD Barrel Connector Replacement (BCR) solution has the potential to replace the myriad of barrel connectors used in power adapters that consumers are currently burdened by. It can also replace all legacy USB micro-B connectors that provide only 7.5W, which is not nearly en...
Bringing low power to intelligent autonomous designs
Diodes Incorporated has announced a family of automotive-compliant PCI Express (PCIe) 4.0 clock generators and buffers featuring advanced features for demanding automotive applications, including head units, ECUs, ADAS, navigation, telematics, and infotainment.ThePI6CG182Q,PI6CG184QPI6CG188Q and PI6CB184Q provide differential low power, High Speed Current Steering Logic (HCSL) outputs with on-chip termination.
Non-isolated digital DC/DC modules for 5G nodes
A new product has been announced by Artesyn Embedded Technologies with the LGA50D DC/DC module, which claims to offer one of the highest current density ratings in the industry. With a footprint of just 25.4x12.5mm, this non-isolated unit offers two independent and configurable 25A, 50W outputs, which can also be combined to a single configurable 50A, 100W output.
