Fast proximity sensor eliminates DACs to lower costs
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced an infrared (IR) sensor designed to provide fast, low-cost proximity sensing in a variety of systems. The Vishay Semiconductors TSSP4056 is the industry's first fixed-gain sensor containing a band-pass filter tuned to 56kHz to feature a monotonic sensitivity vs. frequency response curve from 30 to 54kHz.
Transmissive sensors qualified to AEC-Q101
The TCPT1600 and TCUT1600 transmissive sensors from Vishay are now being shipped by Mouser Electronics. The compact, surface-mount transmissive optical sensors are qualified to AEC-Q101 standards for automotive and industrial applications, and feature a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +125 degrees Celsius.
Power Metal Strip resistor increases accuracy & reduces TCR
Combining an extended power rating to 0.5W with a Kelvin 4-terminal connection, Vishay Intertechnology has announced a surface-mount Power Metal Strip current sense resistor in the compact 1206 case size. The WSK1206...18 High Power reduces TCR down to 35ppm, enables tight tolerances down to 0.1% for increased measurement accuracy and offers low resistance values down to 0.01Ω to minimise excess power dissipation.
Ambient light sensor saves space in backlight dimming
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new high-accuracy digital ambient light sensor for flat-panel televisions and consumer handheld devices. The VEML7700 combines a photo-diode, low-noise amplifier and 16-bit ADC in a miniature, transparent surface-mount package measuring 6.8x3.0x2.35mm. The sensor adopts Filtron technology and supports an I²C bus interface for simple operation.
Companies partner to meet demand for precision strain gages
Micro-Measurements, a Vishay Precision Group (VPG) brand, has announced that it has established a distribution partnership with South Africa-based Elexsys to meet the country's high demand for precision strain gages in medical, test and measurement, military, force measurement, and energy applications.
A wave of products on show at APEC 2016
Vishay Intertechnology will be highlighting its latest power MOSFET, IC, passive component and diode technologies for a wide range of applications at APEC 2016 – the Applied Power Electronics Conference taking place in California in March.
Polymer tantalum chip capacitors offered in D & V case sizes
Extending its T55 series of vPolyTan surface-mount polymer tantalum moulded chip capacitors, Vishay Intertechnology has announced devices in the D and V case sizes and higher voltage ratings from 16 to 25V. Additionally, devices in the A and B case sizes have been enhanced with lower ESR.
400W surge capability protects portable electronics
Hailed as the industry's first to feature a 2% breakdown voltage tolerance, a series of surface-mount Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) protection diodes has been unveiled by Vishay Intertechnology. The VTVSxxASMF series devices provide a high surge capability of 400W at 10/1000μs in a low-profile SMF package, making it suited for portable electronics.
Weighing instruments extend comms capabilities
A family of weighing instruments just launched by Vishay Precision Group’s BLH Nobel brand features a new hardware platform with extensive communication capabilities. The G5 family increases speed and performance, offering intuitive operation, easy calibration and advanced diagnostics.
Demo highlights long-term stability of foil resistors
VPG Foil Resistors announced that its Vishay Foil Resistors (VFR) brand has released a demo that highlights the inherent advantages provided by the robust construction of VPG Bulk Metal Foil resistors. Available as a video, the demo compares the stability of foil resistors with thin film and thick film technologies when exposed to a high-power pulse.
