RF Design Made Fast & Easy with the Arria V FPGA RF Development Kit
At IMS 2012, Altera and TI introduced a complete RF development kit that eases RF prototyping for systems based on Altera's 28-nm Arria V FPGAs. he modular Arria V FPGA RF Development Kit includes all the hardware and software needed for RF transmit, receive and digital pre-distortion feedback, reducing the amount of time needed to design and verify RF systems, such as wireless base stations, remote radio heads, and military radio and intelligenc...
New ways to harness energy at the press of a button
With the ECO 200, EnOcean is launching the third generation of its mechanical energy converters. Combined with the PTM 330 transmitter module the result is an entire system for batteryless wireless operations. This new pairing creates an optimum basis for speedy and simple implementation of energy harvesting switching solutions. EnOcean again shows the way for new possibilities of various self-powered wireless switching elements – in building a...
Tektronix Broadens Portfolio with New Handheld Oscilloscope Family
Tektronix, Inc. has unveiled the THS3000 handheld oscilloscope series that bring a new level of measurement precision and accuracy to engineers and technicians who need to debug, install and repair complex electronic systems in both field and lab environments. With up to 200 MHz bandwidth and 5 GS/s sample rate, the THS3000 oscilloscopes are the highest-performing handheld oscilloscopes available today.
Highest output power density inverter uses SiC JFETs from SemiSouth
SemiSouth Laboratories, Inc has announced that silicon carbide JFETs made by the company are being used in small 0.5 litre inverters to achieve an output power density of 30kWh/l. If inverters of this size and capacity are used with PV panels, one inverter could supply enough electricity for up to five households, it is claimed.
3kW, Compact DC/DC converter modules target Railway environments
The BAP 3KR Series rugged, railway quality DC/DC converter delivers up to 3kW output power. It accepts a nominal input voltage of 110Vdc (66 – 154V range) and is rated for a single output of 28V/107A with peak operating current of 115A for 10ms. Other input and output values are available on request.
DC/DC Converter accepts up to 800VDC Input Voltage
The HVI 2K is a recent addition to Absopulse Electronics line of high input voltage DC/DC converters. This design uses field proven technology to generate 2kW output power. It accepts 600Vdc input voltage (450V to 800Vdc range) and is rated for a single output of 12V/130A, 24V/80A or 48V/40A. Other outputs are available on request. An optional built-in redundancy diode allows for parallel and N+1 operation. The HVI 2K is suitable for a wide range...
FDK Introduces Low Input Voltage Mini POL Converters
FDK Corporation extends its DK Series with three new non-isolated, point-of-load (POL) dc-dc converters that operate from a 3.0Vdc to 5.5Vdc input bus. These very small, low profile surface mount devices deliver up to 3, 4, and 6 Amperes (A) of output current with efficiencies up to 94%. They provide a tightly regulated programmable output voltage in the range of 0.8Vdc to 3.465Vdc and deliver the full rated output current with no derating in amb...
Energy Micro launches EFM32 Tiny Gecko microcontrollers for low power, space and cost sensitive applications
Energy Micro, the energy friendly microcontroller company, has announced a range of entry-level devices for low power applications subject to stringent PCB space and product cost limitations. At a sub-Dollar price, the EFM32 'Tiny Gecko' (TG) microcontrollers offer the energy-efficient performance of the company's bigger Gecko products combined with smaller Flash and RAM combinations and a choice of space saving QFN20, QFN32 and QFN64 packaging.
Single-chip FM radio transceiver family
Silicon Laboratories Inc. has announced what it says is the first single-chip FM radio transceiver family. The digital architecture of the Si472x transceiver combines the functionality of the Si470x FM radio receiver with the Si471x FM radio transmitter in a single 3x3x0.55 mm package. Competing solutions require at least two chips, more than 50 external components and up to five times more board space.
