AR visor dramatically improves surgery accuracy
European scientists have employed new photonics technology in order to develop a new augmented reality surgical visor in a bid to improve accuracy of interventions, showing anaesthetic and medical data while superimposing a patient’s x-ray in perfect unison with their body, meaning surgeons never having to look away during an operation and surgery times reduced by over 20 minutes for every three hours.
Blue or green GaN/InGaN arrays showcased at Photonics West
A μLED fabrication process to create high-resolution arrays at 10μ pitch has been developed byLeti, a research institute of CEA Tech. Both the pixelisation and the 873x500 resolution are enabled by the new process exceed technology.
Temperature controller finds its way into chilling device
Offering standard and custom designs, OVEN Industries has developed the affordable 5R7-001, which was chosen for a high efficient chilling device produced by Custom Chill, located in Philadelphia PA, US.
Understanding the molecular interrelationships of our life
At LASER World of PHOTONICS (June 26–29, 2017 in Munich) exhibitors, application panels and symposiums will demonstrate just how closely medical progress is intertwined with photonics techniques. When today’s researchers embark on voyages of discovery, they eagerly enlist photons to transport themselves into miniature worlds. Photonics is ubiquitous when peering into living cells, neural brain processes or pathologically altered tissu...
Laser diode supplies an optical performance of up to 220mW
The trading portfolio of IMM Photonics has been expanded in the segment Fabry-Perot laser diodes to include a 830nm version by the Japanese manufacturer QD-Laser.The 830nm laser diode emits transversal waves in single mode, and supplies an optical performance of up to 220mW in continuous wave mode (cw). The beam angle is given as 9x18 degrees.
