SATA SSD offers powerful key management methods
Microsemi has announced an ANSI/VITA 42.3-2014-compliant PCI Express interface XMC form factor SATA SSD for industrial and defence applications where ultimate security for data-at-rest is required. As part of Microsemi’s TRRUST-Stor best-in-class Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) technology offerings, the XMC offers powerful key management methods. In the most advanced method, no encryption key is stored in the SSD, leaving data forensically unre...
SATA SSD offers "ultimate" data-at-rest security
Microsemi Corporation hasannounced a compact form factor SATA SSDfor industrial, defence, intelligence, UAV andsecure laptop applications where ultimate security for data-at-rest is required. The low power mSATA SSD has 64GB Single-Level Cell (SLC) flash capacity in a 50x30mm compact form factor and is 65% smaller than similar 2.5” devices.
ARM-powered MCUs arrive with development kit
The STM32F7 series 32-bit microcontrollers and the STM32F746G Discovery Kit from ST Microelectronics are now being shipped by distributor Mouser Electronics. With ART Accelerator as well as an L1 cache, the microcontrollers deliver the maximum theoretical performance of the ARM Cortex‑M7, whether code is executed from embedded Flash or external memory.
Fraunhofer spin-off offers modern electronics development software
COSEDA Technologies GmbH in Dresden began its business activities in July 2015. The team, consisting of former employees of the Fraunhofer research institute IIS/EAS, offers software that companies can use to develop complex electronic products more reliably, quickly and cost-effectively. The company can rely on the know-how accumulated during more than 15 years of co-operation by Fraunhofer IIS/EAS with the semiconductor industry.
MCUs supported by starter kit, evaluation boards
The STM32F7 series of very high performance MCUs with ARM Cortex-M7 core from ST Microelectronics is now available at distributor Rutronik with a starter kit and two evaluation boards. With ST’s ART Accelerator and an L1 cache, the STM32F7 MCUs deliver the full performance of the ARM Cortex-M7 core with code executed from either embedded Flash memory or an external memory.
Inspector detects dust, microscopic fibres & microbes
For applications with an increased demand for cleanliness, EVT has developed the Particle Inspector. Applications range from production in microelectronics and precision engineering to life sciences and healthcare.
A new class of alloys
ETH researchers have produced a thin film and extremely fine pillars from a new class of alloys made of multiple finely distributed elements. The material is resistant to extreme pressures and temperatures.
The confidence of the wide band gap industry
In a competitive landscape, Yole Développement points out the serenity of the Wide Band Gap (WBG) market and the confidence of its players: WBG companies are slowly but surely reshaping the industry and accelerate the market adoption with numerous strategic mergers and acquisitions (Cree, Infineon Technologies…) and the development of disruptive solutions. In its latest technology and market analysis, 'GaN & SiC for power electro...
