Industrial power supplies use minimal DIN-rail space
XP Power has announced the DSA series of slim DIN rail industrial AC/DC power supplies, and the complementary DSA-DP20 ORing redundancy module. The efficient DSA series comprises the 150W DSA150, the 240W DSA240 and the 480W DSA480. With a single output of either 24 or 48VDC, the range is aimed at industrial applications such as process control and building automation, where DIN-rail space is at a premium.
Display solution cooked up for Raspberry Pi
The 4DPi-24-HAT, a 2.4in, 320x240 pixel fully HAT standard compliant primary display with resistive touch that plugs directly on top of a Raspberry Pi has been launched by 4D Systems and element14. It displays the primary output of the Raspberry Pi, which is normally sent to the HDMI or Composite output.

The appetite for consumer robotics is growing
While the field of robotics may have recently been labelled the 'fastest growing industry in the world', robots themselves continue to be associated with the unpredictable, triggering extreme emotions amongst the general population. By Simon Holt, Marketing Manager, element14.
Programmable DC electronic loads test variety of DC sources
The 8600 series programmable DC electronic loads from B&K Precision includes three models with loads ranging from 150W to 250W, which can sink current up to 60A at wide voltage ranges up to 500V with fast transient operation speeds up to 25 kHz along with built-in battery and LED test mode functions. They are now on sale at Farnell element14.
225W supply provides 93% minimum average efficiency
Offering a minimum average efficiency of 93% and a maximum efficiency of 95%, a series of high efficiency open frame AC/DC power supplies has been unveiled by XP Power. The EPL225 series' high efficiency results in a no-load power consumption of less than 0.5W, less heat to dissipate and a cooler running unit, contributing to a more reliable longer-life power supply.
Optocouplers target low power applications
The ACPL-x2xL 5MBd digital optocouplers range from Avago has been added to Farnell element14’s semiconductor product portfolio. The range is primarily designed around lower power consumption and lower supply voltage applications such as motor control or computer peripheral interface.
Evaluation kit opens up hot swappable sensor capability
The Multisense Evaluation Kit from Rohm is an add-on sensor platform, opening up hot swappable sensor capability to projects. Customers can test and interchange six of the most popular sensors from Rohm for portable applications on most platforms with USB host support. It is on sale at Farnell element14.
Sensor board adds accuracy to prototypes
The new 9-axis Freescale Sensor Toolbox Breakout Board, BRKT-STBC-AGM01, features three of the latest sensing technologies incorporated onto a single board, and is a smaller-footprint version of the recently launched FRDM-STBC-AGM01. It is now being shipped by Farnell element14. These sensing technologies allow users to determine motion, position and location as well as angle of rotation.
Reduced form factor features in Bluetooth Low Energy module
The Panasonic PAN1740 next-gen BLE Module, designed to enable low-energy wireless connectivity, is on sale at Farnell element14. With demand for this type of connectivity accelerating in recent times, the BLE offers a reduced form factor, significantly lower power consumption and embedded Software Stack.
